Did you mean to post on the soft power and media discussion thread? From what I read, its cause the demographics is mostly women and the directors are all women now.
Women are more likely to do ratings and comments so that the industry tends to believe women is the major audience.
Also the idol drama for girls is always the safe option for production both financially and politically.
