I have some question about us decision making incase China invades Taiwan. Will it automatically be war between US and China or do US need to decide the response? If China makes a deal with the US president could he stop the war by himself. Let's not discuss the politics of the deal just if the president can singlehandedly hand over Taiwan to China. Does the US presidents power of supreme commander change if he loses election but before the inauguration of the new president.

Hi guys, recently Li Keqiang promoted a "street stall economy" to help reduce unemployment, but I've read that after the major of Beijing rejected it, the state media has joined in and has been publishing stories against it. Could this be a sign of infighting within the CCP? Do you think the CCP is doing enough to reduce unemployment and pushing through new reforms? Thanks.

People are allowed to disagree, not every little thing is a infighting. And I don't understand your second question? The government has already lifted millions out of poverty and are still helping those who need it in the much more rural areas.

Hi, thanks. I guess you're right about the infighting thing. I just thought that the CCP would keep their internal disagreements private, was really surprised. For the second part, I just have the opinion that China has a lot more economic reforms to do.

I posted an article in the economics thread, but basically there are economists calling for China to focus on it's domestic market instead of exporting to foreign markets. But at the same time, I've read that China has a really high savings rate, and the virus will just cause it to get even higher. Furthermore, with the massive inequality in China seems like a problem that should really be addressed. Or that state companies get loans much more easily than private companies, despite the latter contributing more to GDP growth and employment. Things could be much more efficient in general.

This was the latest article I read that mentioned new reforms in response the the economic slowdown caused by the virus, and it looked really significant. Has anyone seen any new updates since then?
