Anyone know any news, updates or the latest upgrades of the BEIDOU system? I believe the BEIDOU is a critical component in China's future as a rising power. I just can't find much about the BEIDOU. What is its accuracy compared to the GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and what is its coverage, is it already in wide use or still in experimental and testing phase?

I hope you realize that this is intentional. Military secrets are secret for a reason.

Unrelated to you specifically, does anyone think that all those new users who post questions like "How many j10c has china deployed" reek of lazy journalists from bottom tier online "news" websites?

I don't know what you're trying to insinuate here. Any ways, if you don't have anything better to contribute to my question, please keep your unwanted opinion to yourself. I think your comment is highly insulting and uncalled for.
We have a lot of info about the GPS (civilian), i was also hoping that someone might be able to shed some updates on what the state of the BEIDOU (civilian) is as of now. I know that to get the details of what the military uses would be confidential, that doesn't mean there won't be some updates whatsoever.

BeiDou is already fully operational since 2000 ... and already and began offering services to customers in the Asia-Pacific region in December 2012. It is planned to begin serving global customers upon its completion in 2020.
20 BeiDou satellites are in service right now (from 27 been launched so far). This year (2017), it is planned 6-8 new Beidou Satellites to be launched

Regarding accuracy, we don't really know for restricted military ... but for civilian version, it is already very accurate 1 to 2 metres

I'm still surprised that GPS dominates most of the services used in smartphones in Asian countries. What about China and the SAR? Is BEIDOU dominant in Smartphones or other applictions or is GPS being used more widely?

I came across these articles though they aren't news. My question is how reliable are they? Does China really deploy troops to Syria?

The Syrian conflict has an endless capability to surprise analysts as seemingly every other day a new element, unprecedented in the Syrian civil war, comes to the surface. Such is the case with the arrival of the first Chinese Army special forces unit, “the Night Tigers,” to Syria’s Tartous port on the Mediterranean, according to reports in Arab media close to the Assad and Tehran regimes (the Al-Mayadeen TV channel).

The Night Tigers were dispatched by Beijing to fight the Uyghurs, the Muslim Chinese ethnic group fighting with the rebel forces against the Assad regime.

China is planning to send troops to Syria to aid President Bashar Al-Assad’s forces, according to the New Khaleej.

According to informed sources, the move comes as China becomes increasingly concerned with the presence of Islamic militants in the East Turkestan region, who have been sighted aiding opposition groups in Syria.

Last week, during a meeting with Syrian Presidential Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised the regime’s efforts at tackling the fighters from the Islamic East Turkistan Movement.

I wouldn't believe them unless we get official confirmation from Chinese authorities. Russia would love for China to share a part of the burden, but what's in it for China?

Syria is a very hot battle field with one side is the whole western alliance and the other side is Russia alone. Russia is surely disadvantage. The West won't feel comfort if Assad don't go. I heard there is preparation for bombing Syria recently though not sure the info is reliable or not.

For China, the problem is what China wants to be; a world key player or a money counter. China has produced many weapon but most of them are not battle field proven. China today is being surrounded and even bullied by the west (typically in SCS). If China wants to change this situation, the only way out is being strong. I believe China has policy that it only send troops outside the country under U.N authorization. I think this policy should change, U.N today is not what it supposed to be.

Finally, I think the world should be divided into three poles with the US dominate the west, Russia in eastern Europe while China dominate Asia Pacific. Benefit from other area in world should be shared equally, so the powers are balanced with the three big brothers watching each other and then wars will be less.
