Relations improved only during the early 90s for such deals, which is perfectly valid for what I said. J-10 was close to completion while JH-7 is already in early service.I think he means back in the day, not recently.
Arms deal with USSR wasn’t really a thing since the breakup during the 60s, meaning everything after essentially mig21f was off the table. During the late 80 and early 90s relationship got better and equipment purchase was again doable, but at that point PLAAF decided that the su27 was a better choice than the mig29. To directly answer your question, mig25 and mig27 (and by extension mig23) was not purchased because sino-soviet relations made it impossible; and mig29 was not purchased because PLAAF bought the bigger and longer-range su27 instead, deciding that it suited their needs better. Why did PLAAF/PLAN largely avoid acquiring Mikoyan aircraft (Mig-19 being the notable exception)? Why not Mig-25, -27, -29?
Mig-31 was almost acquired by Syria in the mid-2000s, and it was offered earlier to some European country.MiG-29 is too short legged to be considered and basically does the same thing as J-10, although it was initially offered.
MiG-27 is pretty bad for what it is and China has stuff like JH-7 which is better in basically every way.
MiG-25 is niche and has obsolete electronics and MiG-31 is not offered for export.
Ducted fan.General question for those who are better versed:
is there a way to make the propellers on the Shahed type drones, stealthy?
I understand, rest if the airframe can be done so by shape optimisations but that rotating propeller must be super noisy on the radars that are specifically looking for it.
Excuse me, does China have a heavy helicopter program? If so, what is the current status of this program?
