You want to reduce the losses in the air intake so in the first MiG jet fighter, MiG-9, the two engines which exhausted under the fuselage were fed from a front intake with divider in the middle: .How is air conveyed from the inlet to the engine in
old fighters with nose air inlets such as the Mig-21 or Mig-19?
TIA.
You want to reduce the losses in the air intake so in the first MiG jet fighter, MiG-9, the two engines which exhausted under the fuselage were fed from a front intake with divider in the middle: .
A very similar intake was used in the famous MiG-15 and -17 with air channels passing on both sides of the cockpit.
The MiG-19 used the same concept but uses two engines.
I think MiG-21 also uses a bifurcated intake after its supersonic inlet. You see something the sixth picture on this site: .
Other aircraft as the Fiat G-91 have a single channel below the cockpit. I think that configuration was copied from the North American F-86.
Just found ... anyone with an idea of what it could be ??
An UCAV wind-tunnel model maybe, ... ???
