remember, the biggest fear a while back is US can use Mythos to launch cyber attacks on China & China has no responses to it. Kimi K3 consistently comes out to be very capable on cyber security.

well, keep in mind Mythos 5 was released in early June. That is Chinese labs target. At least in terms of cyber warfare. And Anthropic continues to improve it. Goal of Kimi K3.1 and GLM-5.5 has to be next Fable and GPT-6.0 rather than what's available right now.

distillation is a real thing. When Chinese labs didn't have enough data (because every dev in China were also using Claude Code), they had to distill, but now that people are buying their coding plans and also their models are good enough for distilling new models, this is not needed.

Can We please move on from this off topic stuff?
I don’t see how it’s off topic. He is asking a perfectly on topic question about why many top Chinese AI talents chose to develop in the U.S. before they went back and I gave perfectly on topic answers to why the U.S. is attractive.

Can we please stick to and concentrate on just the AI. all this discussion about how much talents get paid just keep going off topic to other stuff.

There are so much stuff going on with different model releases. People want to come here and read about the latest releases, not other stuff.

Wait, this guy is the US AI Czar appointed by Trump admin, the same admin that ordered Anthropic to take down Fable, but now because Kimi came out he is advocating that the his own admin's actions have backfired?

It wasn't that long ago that some folks on here were talking about how US had the advantage of having a Mythos/Fable tier model that was super advanced and cybersecurity and would use it offensively against China... then days later China open sources it to the world....

1. He was fired in March
2. He's saying K3 found and fixed vulnerabilities Fable refused to fix, which is the whole point: US doesn't want other countries being able to defend against attacks, same reason US doesn't want other countries installing Huawei telecom gear.

I think that should be the question we should be asking ourselves in the first place. What makes the US so attractive to global talents(China included)?
I think I've answered this before. It's a combination of the 2 factors:

1. Great wealth generated by financial control created from America's victory in WWII. America is a finance superpower but finance is not intriniscally real; it is completely based on trust in your system and the power to defend it, just like the value of the USD.

2. That wealth is up for grabs in a population of relatively stupid people, making life extremely comfortable for someone who is not stupid. Someone who is an average tech worker in China getting yelled at by his manager to keep up is a superstar in both ability and work ethic in the US. He knows that raising his kids in the US, he barely needs to nudge them and they will be in the top 10%; push them and they're Ivy league. In China, with all the hard-working super competitive, super intelligent kids, he'd have to rake them over the coals everyday about their studies just to be average in school.

If China crumbles 1, then 2 falls with it. A population of many stupid people without a very strong ability to attract foreign talent is not globally competitive.

They really don't have anything else going for them; their cities aren't as modern as China's, they have way worse food than in China, they have way too much deadly crime (both from civilians and the police/ICE themselves), and the people there are becoming more and more xenophobic assholes from losing ground to China. They don't even really know how to have fun; spend some time in China's resorts and party venues and you realize America charging you $600 a person to walk in Disneyland in 95 degree weather getting in hour long lines and paying $35 for teeth-bustingly low effort turkey legs is just... hell. Just like Trump said; he's opening the gates of hell cus that's his house and his gates to open.

While I mostly agree with most of the points you raised here, I would caution you not to be so cavalier with the word "fired" with respect to David Sacks tenure as the AI and Crypto Czar for the Trump regime. He was appointed to that role that was only allowed to have a fixed term of 160 days especially allotted to what they term as "special government personnel/employee." When his time ran out back in March he elected to step down and moved to his current advisory role as head of PCAST org that advises DJT on how to use AI slop so that he can post on Truth Social like a delinquent kid.
