He is a very wise man to beware of gold diggers, even if they're leggy ones!

Wow, Detroit ranks number 5. Hard to believe.

It is consider a hell hole by most americans....and was featured in many films and comedy as a gag...(Robocop for example, and my favourite

Funnily enough, the "bravest" people from "land of the brave" (that's America) wouldn't dare to venture into Detroit let alone invest in it as it is consider a lost cause; guess who comes along to invest money in this city?

Chinese investors help revive Detroit's economy
Why Are Chinese Investors Buying Up Detroit?

That's right, the chinese! (Which ironically is consider by americans to be "yellow" - the opposite of not brave...)

It may not be what it used to be. In my country, some seedy places were transformed into hip.

That would be interesting to see if Chinese investment took over Detroit. I have no idea if that's actually happening. I've read about this before but a lot it from conspiracy theorists. Here's where I'm pessimistic because the US it's estimated can easily add at least a couple hundred billion dollars a year into the US economy but they don't because they're paranoid of China buying US hi-tech that's under dual-use bans. It's not like the propaganda where China doesn't buy American. They don't allow China to buy American. That's why they would halt Chinese investment as well if it was seen as a "takeover."

If anyone is interested in such things, this is the USDX chart from 1981 - 2011. I cut out 1973 - 80 because during those years, the US economy was struggling and the USD was still adjusting to its status as the new, post-Bretton Woods, reserve currency. Plus, that section of the chart was kind'a boring and adynamic. Depending on which context one situates it, this section is quite dynamic, informative, and ripe for analysis and interpretation. So, as I've said, if anyone's interested in such things, and would like to compare interpretations, jump in!

Ultra...please stop with the divisive, anti-American rhetoric.

Investing money into Detroit is happening from many places, including the US, and certainly not just from China.

In addition, going into the crime ridden portions of Detroit as an individual, on your own, from whatever place you come, is a far different thing than sitting in a plush office somewhere else in the world and deciding to invest money there.

Neither have anything to do with who is the most "brave."

Any more of this type of rhetoric and the posts will be deleted and you will be warned.

This Thread is not a place for anti-American sentiment. Anymore than the Chinese economic thread is a place for anti-Chinese sentiment. So can it.

And it cuts both ways...we will not allow it against Chinese or others, and we will not allow it against the US.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION
