A PRINCE AWAITS FIRST ARRIVAL AT A NEW HOME! - 14 NOV 19

R09 HMS Prince of Wales pictured recently at the end of her Builder's sea trials as she set sail south for her first Homeport entry - now scheduled at high tide (circa 1300) on Saturday 16 Nov 19. A flypast will help welcome R09 home for the first time!

R09 still flies the Blue Ensign reflecting her civilian ownership until the Nation's 2nd QE class carrier is Accepted off contract and then commissioned into RN service. Commissioning Day is anticipated for 10 Dec 19 - a date very significant for an RN warship named Prince of Wales.View attachment 55165
Meanwhile across the pond, here's an additional excellent pic collection taken from an 845NAS Merlin of A139 RFA Tideforce, R08 CV HMS Queen Elizabeth & T23 F238 HMS Northumberland undergoing a double RAS (Replenishment At Sea). In some an F35B can be seen hover landing concurrently.
Superb skill, teamwork and professionalism proving what can be done to keep worldwide UK CEPP on tap 24/7 anywhere on the worlds oceans.View attachment 55166 View attachment 55167 View attachment 55168 View attachment 55169
Fantastic photographs. Isn't it mad to think that these are the reality of the CGI images we all looked at for so long.Great days for the RN. Multiple fighters on deck along with helos. Launching and recovering while conducting RAS. Launching 4 B's one after the other. Really great stuff. And as if that isn't enough, POW is sailing into Portsmouth for the first time this weekend! I have always been proud of our RN and its good to se them getting the kit that their reputation deserves after some years in the doldrums. Roll on the 26's & 31's. Have a nice weekend everyone and cheers for the great posts.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the pond once more:
WESTLANT19 - R08 HMS QE IS IN NORFOLK USN BASE- 15 NOV 19
R08 sailed into USN Base Norfolk on 14 Nov to off load the F35B test equipment and spares after a successful 6?week OT-1 F35B operational test phase.
HMS QE entered port with 3 Lightnings and 5 Merlin ranged on deck. The first time a QE carrier has entered a port with F35s onboard.
The 3 F35s are believed to be those of 17 Sqn (normally based in the US) and that 617 Sqn’s 3 aircraft have disembarked and are heading back to Marham imminently.
Here’s a selection of pics of R08 at Norfolk.

Much as we appreciate the sentiment, Hollywood has a lot to answer for! I've lived here nearly fifty years, and haven't seen anyone wear a Bowler Hat, talk like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, and to be honest nobody actually talks about the weather! Unless it's about the effects of extreme weather, like the flooding this week or Tornado damage to houses (yes we get about 100 Tornadoes a year, mostly F2s though). Our food is excellent, rumours to the contrary were and still are circulated by the French mainly, a race who eat frogs, snails and horses...

Oh, and if we insult you it means we like you. BUT, If we call you 'friend, mate or pal', get out of there, that was your final warning!
