Aircraft Carriers III

@Jura those are the ships around her.
a carrier group spreads out some distance from each other but if a potential hostile ship tries to enter the formation they get quite the rude welcome.

these aren’t Chinese navy ships they are USN.
tell me the USN CVG sailed on the courses I approximated by THICK red arrows:

I add I would've expected the diamond formation if the circumstances had been what that tweet said,
and am looking forward to the related USNI news

A carrier formation is something like a

Question: According to foreign media reports, some foreign satellite images showed that the USS Ronald Reagan was sailing in the South China Sea. There seemed to be many Chinese naval ships around it. Can you confirm that?

Answer: The US aircraft carrier group came to the South China Sea to flex muscles and escalate regional militarization. We are firmly opposed to that. We urge the US side to respect the security concerns of countries in the region and make positive contributions to the peace and stability in the South China Sea. The Chinese military will earnestly perform its duties and missions and firmly safeguard national sovereignty and security.

Today at 1:47 PM
for the first time ever I have tweeted now (I just read tweets since I think 2016):

where are the Reagan's escort vessels please?

USS Ronald Reagan is escorted by USS Chancellorsville and USS Antietam cruisers. USS Wayne E. Meyer is also in the region, as well as some oilers. Boxer Amphibious Ready Group passed the Strait of Malacca on September 27.

@Jura

I get the impression (based on the number of your post) that in your opinion that the events supposedly (based on tiny dots) in the SCS is somehow eventful. The SCS is global commons and AKA freedom of navigation. All military ships have FON in the SCS based on international laws. The only country that don't seem to agree is China If you haven't noticed all the buzz is not coming from the US. It is just business as usual in my opinion. I simply don't get the notion of the USS Reagan somehow being "trapped".. The Chinese are free to sail in the SCS just as the US. What is the issue that is so news worthy?
