I served aboard America in 1981. As intrepid stated I'm very sure there are more photos but they are classified.

I like that just ... if getting rid of the cores cost 1b, you'd need 1m visitors come each year during those one-hundred years

in San Diego CA is the #2 maritime museum in the World attracting over 1,000,000 visitors annually. The tickets cost from $8 to $23 dollars.

In my opinion Enterprise will not become a museum.
1) It is stricken from the "Navy list" and has been slated for disposal.
2) There are large gaping holes in the hangar deck and below decks cut and used to remove various nuclear and non-nuclear equipment.
3) She's just not safe.
4) The USN is not in the ship museum business.
5) In order for the ship to become a museum the following must occur;

now I have to leave for work though LOL!
That is not the only picure...a few others are out there.

They prepared the ship for this SINKEX. They loaded a bunch of old A-7 aircraft in the hanger, and then had sensors all over the shi.

They shot missiles, cannon fire, placed IEDS, ran IED loaded vessels into her, and used some torpedoes.

In the end, after 4 weeks of onsluaght, they scuttled her.

They lerned a lot from that exercise and built in even more strength to the rest of the Nimitz class and now the Ford class as a result of what they learned.

when it comes to learning from sinking, and then improving ships as a result of what they learn...no one does this like the US Navy.

We sank several of the Essex claa refits, and the America. We have sunk numerous modern frigates and destroyers as well as LLPH, LHA, LSD and other large amphibious ships.

We then improve ships like the Wasp and America clsass, and the Birke class as a result to make them even harder to sink.

No noation has sunk as many of its own ships in an effort to learn hpw to improve tham as the US Navy has...and I can tell you. it makes a difference.

would you share?

They are classified. If there were not they'd be available to the public. America was sunk on 14 May 2005. By pre-set EOD charges.

from Wiki;
On 16 May 2005, Naval Sea Systems Command released the following statement:

On 14 May at approximately 1130 am EDT, a solemn moment of silence was held as the aircraft carrier ex-America slipped quietly beneath the waves. The data collected during the 25 days at sea from these test events will be of great value to Navy engineers and designers to improve the design and survivability of the nation's future aircraft carrier fleet. The Navy will provide a video and bronze plaque to members of the USS America Carrier Veterans Association and the America Museum Foundation at a yet to be determined time in the future. We thank and honor all the veterans of the USS America who lived and fought for freedom and democracy aboard this majestic vessel.

"Williamson said he is looking forward to 2021 when “the United States Marine Corps [will] embark a fifth generation fighter flying from fifth generation carrier.” The reference was to a squadron of Marine F-35B’s operating from carrier Queen Elizabeth."
