Confirmed as still active only in December 2018, these are two more images of a J-7H and a JJ-7 assigned to the still alive 63rd Brigade. It was once the former 63rd Regiment, 21st Division and was expected to be abolished since some time.

All of these J-7s, J-8Is, and J-6s could be modified into target drones to fly alongside mainstream fighter planes in time of war, so they could be used to draw enemy BVRAAM fires away and potentially fool enemy AWACS.

I do not want to overrate this image, but even if the numbers are partially psed, they look like '7423x', which would correspond to the 132nd Air Brigade at Xianyun. Also this unit is in my list still flying J-7B/H and JJ-7, while these are clearly J-7E model ... and also, could this J-10A in the background mean it is gaining J-10A?

J-7E 7423x - 132. Brigade + maybe new J-10A - 20190802.jpg

How reliable could this poster be if he quotes 40 J-15s in service?

Well let see they 1 regiment and 7 or 8 prototype that add up to say 32. It is not inconceivable that they might add 4 or 6 more in the mean time . I mean CV 17 will be commissioned soon

So the 109th Air Brigade within the Western Theater Command is still flying the J-8F (and J-8H?) ... will it be the next unit to gain J-16s?

Gought a question how many air divisions are in the airforce let me take a guess 2 or is it 4

Pardon, but why do you think so?

The lidst of air divisions - besides the air brigades - is quite well known and just as a summary there are:

- three bomber divisions (8., 10. & 36.)
- two transport divisions (4. & 13.)
- three special mission divisions (16., 20., & 26.)
- and at least one TC transport division is still active (will IMO also become a brigade)

As a start I might suggest to look at Scramble.nl (
