A couple of questions if i may, first, about those 12 meter modules seen in the sat pics at Huludao, when is the last time they were spotted there? I recall someone saying maybe late autumn, if so, would that be an indication of multiple 095s being built? I imagine the 095 just launched has been assembled well before that as i wouldn't think modules from 3-4 months ago would translate into a launched sub that quickly. Some unconfirmed rumours i've read point to at least 2 095s under construction, with one launched already as seen.

Secondly, what is the chinese grapevine saying about current status of the 096 SSBN, did building started yet? Again, unconfirmed rumours i've read say maybe one 096 is building already.
first 12m hull was seen in December, 2022. then again last year in November month. apart from that i don't know.

it was 12-meters. appeared in December, 2022

that information came from the Guancha Trios..

we have seen 14m hull assembly platforms tender first time in January, 2023 then again appeared in 2025.

so i think construction of first unit has already started.

Thanks, so based on that, as far as 095s goes the modules first seen in 2022 must have been for the first boat now already launched, while the 2025 ones likely for the second boat (at least).

For the 096s, would it be reasonable to assume that the 2023 and 2025 tenders point to also two boats building or about to (probably one already)?

A related question since it was touched already, and probably not worth bumping the relevant thread just for this, regarding the possibility of the 095 SSN and 041 SSNK acting as a high-low mix, are there any indications from the chinese grapevine about more 041s being built apart from the one already launched?

one more thing, 095A is already under development.

if hull stands at 14m then 096 diameter is even bigger than Ohio/Borei class SSBNs. a much larger and complex boat as compare to 095 so i think only one unit currently under construction.

Well, my interpretation, also based on the discussion of the possibility of the 095 hull serving as a base for the 096 SSBN hull, is that the 14 meters might refer to the SSBN hull height including some kind of hump (so 12-12.5 meters plus another 1.5-2 meters for the hump). But of course, i guess we'll have to wait to see the 096 in all it's glory to see which is which.

even 094 has 12.5m diameter but with double hull so 096 14m is reasonable. hump don't count.

remember 095 has 12.5m diameter with single hull which is huge.

095/096 are the first set of submarines when China is not technological handicapped. so conservative design limit vanished.

Well the largest of the assembly platforms are specced to 16m diameter

Speaking of UUVs, what do we know (& what's the consensus speculation) about the 09V's ability to carry relatively expendable companion drones?
We don't know anything about that. But I would be very surprised if they didn't add the capability to launch UUVs at least from the torpedo tubes. If it doesn't exist yet it will get added in the coming batches. Another thing to note is, a dry deck shelter-like capability is likely. In the US Navy a dry deck shelter (DDS) is module than can be added to the back of the sub. It has three sections inside, one of which can launch and recover spec ops submersibles. All Virginias have the capability to use it. I believe something like that could be used to launch UUVs too.
