I'm pretty sure the SOS is for getting help aboard the ship, so it's connected to some sort of indoor positioning system onboard, and others can quickly locate where you are on the ship as soon as you press it. Something like UWB is likely the tech behind it.
Probably also able to track and record where every single crew has been. Also for something drops off as easily as an chest tag it's probably not intended to used when someone went overboard.

i have always questioned the usefulness of sending just one MBT at a time via LCAC. a single 075/071 can deliver maximum of 4 (maybe 8?) MBT's per trip.

not so much about the numbers rather the ability

defiantly only 1 MBT per LCAC and yes 4 MBT may sound limited but 4 x Type 071 LPD could land a 16 x MBT + infantry coming from Helicopters

that is a very heavy armoured thrust into enemy territory coming in from the sea possibly on a island which can have the element surprise and outflank the enemy

the ability to do this is more important than actually doing it

LCACs are used for rapid delivery to landing zones. The American LCAC too are limited to one MBT, the capability is a tradeoff between payload and speed and always has been. To fully enable both Type 071 and 075, PLA requires the new LCU currently in development/trials analogous to how USN will operate LCU 1700, which will carry two MBT.
