Chinese defence enthusiast video on YouTube discussing and speculating about the Type 075 LHD, US tensions in SCS, and PLAN naval buildup in general. Got English subtitles.

Skip to 2:03 to see a footage of 2 Type 075 LHDs lined up at a shipyard. Looking relatively complete except for the islands.

Skip to 7:53 for their discussion on why the Type 075 is rushed. And what role do they serve in the PLAN.

Skip to see 7:55 to 8:06 for more of the same footage of the 2 Type 075s in the shipyard. Being completed.

the Type 075 looks terrible

the bridge looks tiny? 6 frontal windows or is it just bad photo

also the island tower is sitting like a bit back from the main island ? what is going on

Sorry to say so, but it seems as if nothing concerning this ship or its equipment - LCAC or helicopters - can please you!? ;)

Yes it does look weird.

The angle is weird and the photo is grainy. However you can see 2 people on the deck for scale. The bridge looks small because of the windows but compared to the people on the deck you can see that it's because the windows are very big.

A dash of paint, closing maybe a couple of holes left in the deck if there are any, and removal of some equipment and it should be ready for launch.
Question is just whether it'll be before or after the new year.

Worth noting if they mirror launch of the second hull, they'd want to slap on a bunch more equipment too. Personally I suspect launch some time in January, but no idea how quickly they can bolt that stuff on, or whether they'd do the launch differently. In any case my bet is early January. Hell, it would be pretty funny to launch on Jan 20, for the POTUS handover. I know its not all about the Americans but still.

I mean, the installation of some subsystems (sensors or CIWS etc) on the ship is largely just structural, they're not properly integrated, and from past practice we know that doesn't take very long at all, and my previous estimate did include that, but it's so inconsequential it is hardly worth mentioning.
When a ship is launched those key subsystems aren't integrated, they're just there to look good.
