It isn’t so much testing right now ow. They are replacing the kinetic CIWS with this and will roll it out onto other platforms.

"Are replacing" suggests that they are in the process of putting it aboard more ships than that one single 071.

Do we have any evidence or credible rumours that is the case yet? If not, then it would be more prudent to say it remains in IOTE equivalent servic.e

They will get rolled out one by one. Can say with reasonable confidence. Key challenge is integrated electrical system but from what I’ve heard on the grapevines they have a novel method for cooling the device, so that’s one huge headache resolved.

Yes I'm sure they probably will be rolled out in time, but "are replacing" implies that it is an active and current process for additional ships, at this current time.

Late stages of IOT&E seem more consistent with where they are right now.

If we see multiple other 071s (or better yet, other ship types too) fitted out with this laser or in the process of being installed with it at a shipyard, then "are replacing" imo would be a more valid statement.

You are right about the semantics but we will be able to see them soon.

Sure, I'm just saying that more accurate word choice can save us a lot of additional posts.

In #3268, if it was written as "it is in late stages of testing, and it will replace/augment kinetic CIWS in time" then it would have conveyed the meaning a bit better.
