Are you expecting 2 071’s for every 075?
Not necessarily a fixed 2:1 ratio. We all know the PLAN currently operates 8 Type 071s & 4 Type 075s—that’s just how it stands today, not necessarily by design. If more 075s come in, additional 071s alongside them wouldn’t be surprising, but it’s not a given.
The requirements for a LPD are not too strenuous; aside from some minor subsystem changes and minor design modifications, it may well be that the baseline 071 design is still perfectly adequate for the needs for a modern LPD.
The real question would be, is there anything about 071 that is greatly incompatible with what one wants for a modern LPD?
Aren't a bunch of their older LSTs or LSMs scheduled to retire pretty soon? Maybe the 071 restarts are for filling the shoes for those.
