A short report on Bilibili by the Navy observe channel "Phantom Longbow" suggests that, based onworobservations, the second batch of four Type 054B shows no visible improvements over the first batch; at least the propulsion system and VLS are completely identical. The only uncertainty is whether the YJ-83 will be replaced with the YJ-12.
Not sure why people were expecting anything, 054B is a interrim design that is going to be replaced very soon after by next generation frigates. No point adding more to a design that is going to be obsolete and replaced soon.

If they were going to put YJ-12s on the second batch, why not on the older two as well? It isn't like the YJ-12 is a new system.

Replacing diesel engines with gas turbines or upgrading H/AJK-16 to HT-1 VLS require major modifications to the hull design and center of gravity. If this wasn't implemented in the first batch, it means it won't be implemented in the second batch either, as it's not cost-effective.

These drastic changes are most likely to occur in the next-generation FFG, which may still have two ships in the first batch.
Perhaps H/AJK-16 would be compatible with smaller anti ship missiles? It's 650mm, I don't remember deph mentioned anywhere. So if there is a deeper variat, we can technically put YJ-18 and CJ-10 in it.

What AShM goes on which platform is a question of requirements, not of perceived paper spec advantages of one or the other. It appears to me PLAN does not perceive their frigates as primarily ASuW, but as ASW and patrol platforms. A lighter, smaller AShM here is adequate. Whereas the upgraded legacy DDG (051B, 052B, Sovremenny) primarily appear to be ASuW focused/SAG leaders. Just my impression, based on how these things are usually decided.
