054B’s starboard anchor is set much farther back along the hull than the bow anchors in 054A, 052B/c/d and 051b/c. This suggest it is positioned to clear a much larger bulbous forefoot than on those earlier ships. this implies 054B carries a substantially larger bow sonar than those earlier ships.
055 also carries a very large bulbous forefoot. 055 uses a long protruding hawsepipe extension to enable the anchor to clear the bulb. I wonder if 054B and 055 share the same large bow sonar?

Great observation. Just a slight snag - there's a bow anchor as well, how about bulb clearance for that one?
The 054B seems to have a more sharply raked stem than the 054A, which positions stem anchor farther forward relative to waterline and makes it easier for the stem anchor to clear the bulb. The 055 also has a similarly sharply raked stem, and a stem anchor positioned similarly. it obviously works with 055’s big sonar bulb.

Well, stern is the opposite end of the ship. The bow may be more sharply raked but that is not making big difference. Nobody will put a bow anchor if the bulb is significantly protruding. BTW, 055 side anchor is further forward than 054B.
You don't need a protruding bulbous bow to house a large sonar. Navy ships bulbous bow is not protruding but goes sideways and downwards to get large room for sonar. Only civilian ship and very large navy ships such as CV and LHA may choose to have a relative speaking protruding bulbous bow.
See 055, it doesn't protrude much.
054B, the bulbous bow isn't mounted, but the curvature suggests similar shape as 055.
compared to CV which looks more like a civilian cargo ship, more protuding but still less than an oil tanker.

Central Line Bow anchor is commonly found only on frigates and destroyers. Type 054B has another bow anchor at the starboard side (right side) of bow hull, with a cover to conceal it.
The Use of hull side bow anchor or Central Line Bow anchor may depend on different situation. And they are all designed to clear the bulbous bow. Central line bow anchor is often seen lowered half way when the ships enters or leaving port.
