Z20F on Type 054A frigate would significantly increase the anti-submarine range as Z20F has longer range than Z9C/D.
I hope the rumour that PLAN is cutting down the procurement of Z20F is not true. Economy of scale can cut down cost per unit, they should buy more than 200 units of F variant for shore stations/islands and for all frigates/destroyers/LPD/LHA/aircraft carriers since submarine threat from AUKUS + Japan and South Korea is greater than marine surface threat.

This would be MLU since #548 has been in service for slightly more than 15 years. There are 6 other type 054A that have been served for more than 15 years. We will see a long line of type 054A going for MLU for the next 15 years.
Will the MLU elevate A to AG standard?

IMO, not exactly, partly due to different physical dimension, more specifically the length of the helicopter deck. And they are likely will retain the 76mm gun instead of 100mm gun.
Waiting for latest photo of the lead ship, #429 or #530, to see what changes will there be. I expect changes will involve mostly sensors (including radar and sonar) and electronics and also latest variant of HQ-16 and YJ-83.
