Hmm so three commissioned DDGs are back at the shipyard presumably for some degree of work. Impossible to rule out the possibility of issues that have come up during trials and operation, but then again I'd hazard against jumping to conclusions about how serious the work is and whether it is symptomatic of any serious issues.

A good gauge would be if we knew how long each ship was back at the shipyard for, but we don't have anything like constant monitoring of the shipyard to make that call.

I wasn't around here when the first 052Bs and 052Cs were commissioned back in the 2000s, does anyone remember if they came back to their shipyards occasionally to have work done in the year or so after their commissioning?
Could be routine maintenance+upgrades

Having DDG back in the shipyard is no big deal at least it gives us a chance to see so many DDG in one area !

On that note we should be seeing the D7 launched soon and hope they can do D8 this year too don't think we will see 3 x Type 052D launches this year like we did last year

... as they came there for the reason of:
?

What would be your guess?

For me, 151 and 153 could be back to retrofit its stern hatch that was pretty well documented with a deficiency in handling waves hitting the stern.

172, possible further fine tuning since it was commissioned rather quickly and seems to be a production mule of sort to help refine the others in the shipyard fitting out.

Test apparatus for 052D's APAR. Nothing special. It's about time photos of this popped up.

So we now have apparently close to 5 Type 052Ds in sea trial while only 1 is active.
