The Google Earth satellite imagery of Jiangnan and Hudong-Zhonghua has been updated to 8 May 2024.

My earlier hunch about the 3rd unit of the new batch 055 at Jiangnan was wrong. There are currently 5 052DGs under construction and fitting out (marked in white), alongside 2 055s under construction and fitting out (marked in yellow) at Jiangnan.

Indeed, something looks to be quite odd with it.

The size and placement of the deck openings in front of the superstructure of the warship labelled #5 in the satellite imagery (left) are different compared to an actual 052DG seen at Dalian earlier (right). And per my measurement on Google Earth, the ship looks to be ~3-4 meters shorter than the actual (non-lengthened) 052Ds.

Could this be a specially modified version of the 052D for export, or a DDG-sized cutter for the CCG?

View of that particular warship from a flight on final approach towards Shanghai Pudong. That definitely doesn't look like a 052DG.

Seems like we could be indeed looking at the very first CCG cutter that is based on the 052D.

TL; DR - A shortened-052D with CODAG, no VLS, with tenders for personnel custody interrogation rooms, sea warning lights, detectiong & admission equipment and tracking camera equipment.

Yeah, no VLS openings indeed.

Side-by-side comparison of the 052D/DG with that particular 052D-mod, with the latter being visibly shorter and with less deck openings. Posted by @yankeesama的帧察小队 on Bilibili.

Should be CCG’s new ship. Some sources claim that one of the tender requirements is for a so-called "police detention room"…
