Also note these ESM changes.

The orange arrow points to the original ESM, which I believe is the naval counterpart to China's DWL002 passive radar system.

The red arrows point to the ESM revised to a shape similar to the later generation VERA system, which by the way, China did try to acquire back around 2005 but the US blocked it.

The newer ships have the revised shape, and its notable that at least four of the 052C have been refitted with it. The last two 052C might have been so if I can find newer pictures.

So its usually a package:

Type 346A with external booms
Original ESM design
Fishbone radar
Type 730 CIWS

to

Type 346A without booms
Revised ESM design
Fly Swatter radar
Type 1130 CIWS

There are some ships that are transitions and have elements of both. Outside of the 10th Division for example, you have 155 of the 3rd Division. The original set is mainly seen with the first five 052D that went to the 9th Division.

The epitome of the Chinese Navy development seen at a naval base, 20 years apart. From without any AEGIS warships to having AEGIS warships "白菜化" i.e. becoming commonplace(?). Posted by @军武吐槽 on Weibo.

And the base commander added a football field to compel sailors keep up their daily exercises instead of preserving a useless garden.
