It still could be faster,I mean this destroyer contruction.
21(+?) Keels laid in 7 years.. The type 052d is being produced at a rate of more than 3 ships a year. Add to that more than 1 type 055 per year and thats 4+ DDG/CG every year.. !
Thats more than USN DDG/CG production rate of 2.5 ships per year against the need of 100 Large Surface combatants.
If you take life of a commissioned combatant to be around 40 years, then PLAN is bound to have 150+ LSC sustaining this kind of a run.
If anything, i think it'll actually slow down over the coming years, while PLAN starts settling with even more capable, complex (bigger?) designs.. Although low in number..

No way keel unit is 7 ahead of launched

22nd ? Doubt that

Certainly, considering the difference between keel laying and launching is about 12-15 months.. So i'd too expect the difference in number to not exceed 4 ships.
Although, i suspect this might be a consequence of staggering the production run between the different shipyards in such a way that in a certain period we get a lot of ship launches and in the following period, lesser than expected.

Quite a few of the Arleigh Burkes only took 9-10months from keel laying to launch.

So Chinese shipyards are likely faster, given that the Type-52D is smaller and how Chinese shipyards work a lot more hours than US ones.

They have been making Burkes for a much longer time and those US shipyards, Bath, etc,. don't have anything else to do but make ships for the US Navy.
