If the shape of that superstructure mock up is accurate to that intended for real thing, it suggest to me the new carrier will use some new smaller AESA panels, possible the same aperture distributed over more separate panels? because the main facets on that mockup seem too small to accommodate the customary type 346 panels. On the 003 the diagonal facets are substantially larger to accommodate the 346 panels.

More like the superstructure this time lacks certain details and systems (such as the AESA panels themselves), or that they have yet to be installed.

Given trends of PLAN carrier sensor suites and also global trends, it is fairly unlikely that what we are seeing on the mock-up is representative of the final thing's sensor fit

The lower central red circle is the original island structure of the ex-Varyag, i.e. the current Dalian CV 16.
My bad, I was thinking it looked too unnecessarily big for a nuclear carrier. Do you know why they kept the structure there for so long?

Now that I look at it could the module with the two catapult like grove a test "verification" module rather than a real one. Like how they had a demonstration module for the 003 before they actually built it. Cause the height and shape doesn't really fit and also it is already painted.
