a spectacular win today by Liren who's now just one point (one win or two draws) from winning the whole event https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_World_Cup_2019#Finals

LOL noticed somewhere this comment by his opponent today:
"If you want to criticize me, first try to play a match with Ding Liren yourself"

    (the game: https://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2019-fide-world-cup/7-2-Ding_Liren-Radjabov_Teimour)

I think that in some female sports the Chinese women got a head start because of state funding. In Western countries women teams found it hard to attract sponshership until recently. Hence one can see the difference in skill level in sports such as softball, field hockey, basketball and soccer to name a few, have closed.

Why aren't all the classes represented in the Olympics and allow only on entrant in each weight division?

Have you ever watched this weightlifting competition on you tube where the women just have to do the clean part of the lift. The bits I watched the "Jerk" aspect was not required. Really weird and it left me wondering why.

All the classes are not represented because the Olympic committee feels that that would give too many medals to weightlifting. If all 20 classes were represented, the 2 movements that comprise the entire sport would have almost half the weight of all the track and field events at the medal tables. If the medals were given out in the same way they are at the world's, then that is 3 medals in each class, totaling 60 gold medals, which would be more medal weight than any other sports category. If that were to happen, no country could hope to even surpass China in the Olympic medal count. I personally think that swimming is over-represented with too many events and medals but white people are good at it while Asians are good at weightlifting so they don't wanna see China get like 80+ gold medals.

Only 1 entrant is allowed in each division because China is too powerful. There are classes where any of China's top 3 or 5 could win the gold with ease so by allowing only a single athlete, China is still vulnerable to that one athlete having an off day and bombing whereas if they had 2, it would be very unlikely that both could screw it up at the same time. At the 2016 Olympics, Chinese world champion and current world record holder Chen Lijun suddenly suffered from cramps in his forearms, making it too hard to grip the barbell. As a result, he bombed and the gold medal went to a Colombian weightlifter who is great, but couldn't have hoped to challenge Chen under normal circumstances. If China had 2 athletes in that division, this adverse loss could have been prevented. If it was completely fair and athletes qualified into the Olympics by results rather than country quota, it would be a cluster-FK of Chinese people lifting one after the other and no one else would ever watch weightlifting again. They might as well let CCTV5 take over the broadcasting LOL

But really, I just showed you how incredible China is at weightlifting. There were several new rules implemented to reduce Chinese dominance at the Olympics including lowering country quotas (from 10 to 8), requiring multiple qualifying meets in a short time to qualify (if you have too many good athletes, there are not enough events to qualify them all), and finally, countries can no longer choose which athletes they send to which divisions; it is all points based. This takes away the flexibility from China to send one athlete in another's stead if that athlete suffers a last minute training injury. It does not affect most other countries because almost no other countries have more than 1 medal contender in each class to choose from.
There is no such thing. I think the highlights reel you watched cut out the jerk or this was some Crossfit oddity. There is only the snatch and the clean&jerk, 2 motions in weightlifting. Anything else and you're not watching weightlifting.

Cleaning 265 pounds is considered an impressive feat for only the women's 49 kg class, which is the lightest Olympic class. I'm guessing if you saw a woman clean this in an American competition, her body-weight was closer to double 49kg LOL

Not a bad idea. Hong Kong and the PRC are each allowed 4 men, 4 women, so for the gold medalists in the PRC who have to be cut due to quota, they can lift for Hong Kong. China currently has 10 gold medalist weightlifters and a silver hopeful of a gold (11 people) fighting for 8 spots. So the PRC can send 8 of the most solid to take those golds, and they can delegate the other 3 to Hong Kong, winning another 2-3 gold medals there. Best part is, there's no chance they would ever have to lift against their teammates because they're all in separate classes!

I think if that happens, the weightlifting federation would just have to frame Chinese lifters with fake positive samples to reduce the gold medals going to China. They really don't want the global popularity of weightlifting suffering because of depressing Chinese domination at the Olympics. Only die-hard fans will watch a sporting event where their country stands no chance of a medal and they get to hear the Chinese national anthem played 10+ times in a 14 event competition.
