Personally I doubt this. The Russians will always have a need for a heavy fighter such as the Su27/30

Light fighter is the critical phrase here. The Russians like the US tried to establish a high low mix for there gen 4 fighters the Flanker family as the high end of that. the Fulcrum as the low. the problem is that the Mig 29 is not a lightweight, It was never built in the same numbers as the F16 partially because they ended up with the same price tag as the Flanker.
it does say sole 'Light Fighter' :D
And is it possible that mig 35 will replace all other versions of the Mig 29 family? Maybe. Remember the Russian Air Force did not buy fighters of the 4th gen to the same numbers as the USAF they only have a couple hundred migs, in fact they have more Flankers then Fulcrums. Where the intention of the high low mix was supposed to be the other way around. The USAF for example has a about 440 ( Rounding ) F15's of the C-D and E versions and over 950 F16's The Russian Air Force as over 300 Flankers and just under 300 Fulcrums and during the days just after the fall of the USSR they pretty much mothballed the Fulcrums. so yeah it could happen but not right away.

Without stored ... useless
170 Mig-29s whose 52 SMT/UBT more modern others A/S/UB
200 Su-27s whose 75 SM 1, 2, 3 + 36 in orders more modern

Soviet and Russians airframes limited to 2 - 3000 hour flight hour much build but cheaper... last Su-35 have a service life as majority of Western fighters 6000 h, reason a part Soviet pilots fly only about 100 h by year so fighter during 20 years eventualy 30, NATO pilots was and always fly almost the double.
In 2016 Russian average 120 h NATO rules minimum 180 h during 1990' s Russian max 50 h ! some 20 h.
A thing favorable for Soviet get big Rgts in general almost 40 units in 3 Sqns of 12 + some in reserve USAF Sqn 24 fighters + 3 spares but with difference of quality pilots, etc... normaly USAF more powerful.
And actualy in general mixed Rgts with different types but for a huge country remains few bases have 1200 fighters-bombers as USAF active but ANG/Reserve add 700 fighters.

Considering right now the 2 Rgts with Mig-29 replaced have receive Su-30SM difficult to say maybe Mig-35 replace in part Su-27 ? but i look for it :p

I realise that Sputnik is far off being a reliable source - hence my 'hack-spit' comment at the time. I t sounds tho' that the '170' figure may wel l reflect or approximate to the remaining number of Mig 29's in service? whether that lends any more credence to the article is another matter.

now I watched this, and perhaps the most interesting part comes around 02:00; they claim
  1. what I would call situational awareness within 300 km radius;
  2. the ability to continuously update the firing solution for up to 30 targets;
  3. fusing 1. and 2. info into a helmet-mounted display
in Mig-35s (plus presumably the newest version of

anyway this view (
