Firstly, I have no idea what is the point of training sailors on a sail ship, regardless western or Chinese. The sailors in the sailing era were trained on the same ship they used at the time, so can and should be best that today's sailor being trained on modern ships.

That being said, there is one reason against Chinese traditional sailing ships. The sailing skills of handling Chinese sail ships and the experience of building Chinese sailing ship of that size were lost ever since the end of Zhenghe's voyage in 1433, that is almost 600 years. For whatever reason if PLAN need a sail ship, the only way to build it and have training curriculum in place in a few years is looking to the west.

There are still many in Hong Kong, and Westerners have also recreated them. Junks traveled the seven seas and their story never ended with Zheng He.

If I don't see one mast or a bunch of guys rowing on each side, it's a Chinese designed ship. If the J-20 is stolen from the F-22 and F-35 because they look so similar, use that logic.
I don't see how that logic applies here, the ship depict is clearly a 3 masted sailing ship of European design. Most likely a full rigged ship judging by the number of sails per mast. and the V-shaped hull What you are talking about is the galleon used by ancient greeks and the romans which forms a part of Western ship designs yes but definately not as well known as the ones during the age of sail. But it still does not dismiss the fact that China has other designs that better reflect its maritime history.

Navy and civilian joint amphibious power projection exercise. This exercise involved 9 ships including RORO ships, 072 and possible barrack ships.

Interesting

I would like to see LPD and LHD also to be included in this joint RORO exercise

No doubt China’s vast RORO fleet will be used for Taiwan
