I believe the term "light frigate," is a very good designation for the Type 056. Given its displacement, its weapons load out, and its role, that is where I would classify it.

I had 505 commissioned earlier this year, and if that is correct, then this latest one might be 506.

umm.........actually Jeff...........505 and 506 are, or will be the 23rd and 24th Light Frigates to be commissioned in the 056 class. Which will be between now and the end of this year!
As discussed 505 may of just been commissioned.............but we will wait for further news.
Anyway...........we definitely know 22 056 are currently in the active fleet! :)

I think we going for 36 minimum they are 9 Units/Flotillas with 4 to equip, after ??
Yes i have see sometimes this designation mainly for Units and mentionned 056型护卫舰
with translation i have Frigate, can you confirm me please ?
and that also 海护 translation impossible.

In China Navy I believe both corvettes and frigates are classified as "Guard Ship" 護衛艦 (护卫舰).

In Taiwan frigates are classified as 巡防艦 and corvettes as 巡邏艦.

This must be from a type 056. Also maybe equivalent to RAM in their intended purpose but I don't think the Chinese missile is a rolling one. This seems to be the back cover of a book or calendar? The bar code is visible.

Here is an "out there" idea, but what do you guys think of introducing a small, cheap (comparatively speaking) lightweight missile system to the likes of the 056 akin of the naval Hellfire of the USN?

The Chinese could adapt their HQ10 ATGM, or one of the plethora of missiles of that class being developed and fielded with Chinese UCAVs.

Such a capacity would greatly enhance the 056's ability to engage the kinds of small, fast attack craft they might encounter during routine deployments, yet should not cost much in terms of cost or weight/space, so should allow them to retain the C802 launchers.

What do you guys think?

Yes, as t2contra said, the cost for each round would be more expensive...but, to your point if there were a credible threat of say six or eight fast boats attacking a Type 056, that capability could allow the Chinese vessel to take them all out before they got into firing range.

And being able to do THAT, is far less expensive than having a Type 056 severelly damaged or lost.

available photos of FL-3000N seem to show the tail fins as non-moving, only the canards are moving control surfaces, so it has to be a rolling airframe missile.

What about something like the Pike missile. It can be fired from grenade launcher and can target up to 2 km. It's likely to be cheaper and smaller than hellfire, but may not be powerful enough to take out a moving boat.

I think they would want something that can hit and destroy...and out to 10km probably.

Otherwise, a set of six speed boats that are attacking may be firing their own small missiles that have a rang of 3-5 km.
