The last for this year 506 Qujing is also a 056A, now majority are 056A.

Yep...i agree...............as per usual when i see a report of the commissioning ceremony, then we will know for sure!
Its was interesting to read the report from Hudong shipyard, basically saying that the Chinese Navy were thankful to Hudong shipyard for meeting the delivery deadline..........as Hudong expressed they had the pressures, of the usual Chinese holidays, some work load problems at the shipyard, and also that there had been some bad weather, while they were building the vessel.
Anyway........its onwards and upwards for the Chinese Navy!

056 is classified as Light Frigate by PLAN, thus hull pennant 505 type 056 Corvette should be the one.

Yes i have see sometimes this designation mainly for Units and mentionned 056型护卫舰
with translation i have Frigate, can you confirm me please ?
and that also 海护 translation impossible.

Well whenever i read articles about the 056............Western media sources refer to the class as Corvettes, but the Chinese seem to refer to this class as Light Frigates!
Anyway its just my 2 cents worth!

IIRC the English 'light frigate' used to mean prostitute. That seems to be a good reason to borrow the term corvette from the French(?).

Just a guess, but as PLAN reforms and adopts US-style systems and command structures, it might ditch the FFL in favor or Corvettes.

Yes, 056型护卫舰 is translated as Type 056 Frigate. Also, I can not find a specific Chinese terminology which is equivalent to English word "Corvette". My guess is it may not exist, as yet.

I believe the term "light frigate," is a very good designation for the Type 056. Given its displacement, its weapons load out, and its role, that is where I would classify it.

I had 505 commissioned earlier this year, and if that is correct, then this latest one might be 506.
