Heck, there have been just as many movies using Russians, German (to this day), Middle Eastern, Americans themselves, and of course, aliens as the villians.

I would not make more of it than it is...Movie Makers trying to make a buck.

I meant my comment as tongue-in-cheek, but there is something to be said about the "yellow peril" mentality in western culture.

If you scroll down and read all the different yellow peril fictions since the beginning of 20th century, it all has one underlying theme: asians are insidious and will infiltrate an aspect of society (financial market, computer chips, immigration, etc) to a vast degree before striking an apocalyptic blow.

I think it's telling that this kind of plot has survived since the racist drivel spewed by Jack London to modern days. The presentation has changed, and it theme is couched in more PC clothes, but the underlying fear remains the same. The only other fictional genre that I can think of which has this kind of unified undercurrent are zombie movies.

Hehehe.

The wife and I are going to see "delivery Man," at 2:10 PM, followed by "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," at 4:00 PM. Afterwards I am taking her out to eat at either the Texas Road House, or Outback Steak House for some Prime Rib.

Going to be a nice afternoon and evening with my sweetheart of 36 years...mother of our five kids, and grandmother to our none grandkids. Some folks call their wife their better half. Mine is my better 3/4ths! LOL!

The membership here are going to love this one. The movie is called dragon day, here is the synopsis.

The trailer seems to look good. At least better than that ludicrous movie (Red Dawn)!

However, I can't seem to help but notice the generic message that eminates from Dragon Day. It would only feed the notion that China will one day control all of America .... or, North Korea is the enemy that would invade America.

For a person who is neither American, nor Chinese. The movie would be entertaining, especially the chilling thought of what would the world be like to survive in, when you got no food or water. That's what a non-American or non-Chinese person would take from this movie. However, I doubt that Americans would have the same view. And that's the problem I think, which is inherently wrong with hollywood movies nowadays.

All in all, I look forward to watching Dragon Day.

The movie that I am really looking forward to watching is Ronin 47! Keanu Reeves is a cut above most hollywood actors. He has the personality which connects more with the average guy.

We thought that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire was a great movie, and if you liked the books or the first movie, you will really enjoy this second part. I would most definitely see this again.

As to Delivery Man...it was an excellent story and had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, for us, the crudity and the base language spoiled it. It was not necessary at all, and for us, it detracted a lot from what otherwise was a very decent story. I would not go see it again.

RIP Paul Walker one of my favorite actor, I will sorely miss your performance on Fast and Furious franchise

Actor Paul Walker, best known for his role as undercover cop Brian O'Conner in the popular "Fast & Furious" movies, died in a car accident in Southern California Saturday. He was 40 years old.

A representative for the actor confirmed his death in an e-mail to Fox News Saturday evening.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said that two people were killed in the crash, which occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time in Santa Clarita, Calif. A statement on the accident from the department said that deputies found the car engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim has not been identified. The Los Angeles County Coroner told KTTV's Kevin Takumi that dental records would be needed to formally identify the bodies.

A statement on the actor's official Facebook page said that Walker was a passenger in the car, and had been at a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide earlier in the day.

"We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news," the statement read in part. "Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences."

Walker, a Southern California native and the oldest of five children, began acting at a young age when he appeared in commercials, and his television credits include appearances on "The Young and the Restless" and "Who's The Boss?"

Walker said the early induction to show business wasn't to start him on a career path, but was a way to help provide for the family. Walker made his feature film debut in the 1998 comedy "Meet the Deedles." Supporting roles in the films "Pleasantville," ''Varsity Blues" and "She's All That" followed.

But it was his turns opposite Vin Diesel in "The Fast and the Furious" films, adapted from a Vibe magazine article about underground street races, that made Walker a star. He was cast by producer Neal H. Moritz, whom Walker had impressed with his performance in the 2000 thriller, "The Skulls."

Walker reprised his role as Brian O'Conner in four of the five sequels made of the 2001 hit. The latest edition, "Fast & Furious 6," was the most lucrative of them all, grossing more than $788 million worldwide following its May release.

According to the Internet Movie Database, Walker was to appear in "Fast & Furious 7," due out next July. He will also appear in the film "Hours," due out December 13.

Universal Pictures, the studio behind the "Fast & Furious" films, released the following statement Saturday evening: "All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."

Walker starred in other films, including the crime thriller "Running Scared," the Antarctic adventure "Eight Below" and the heist film "Takers." Though his stardom didn't make as much of an impact outside the "Fast & Furious" series, Walker continually drew praise from his co-stars and directors as a kind-hearted and eager collaborator.

"Your humble spirit was felt from the start," said Ludacris, Walker's "Fast & Furious" co-star, on Twitter. "Wherever you blessed your presence you always left a mark, we were like brothers."

Walker is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Re: World News Thread & Breaking News!!

This tragedy is actually affected me personally, because I actually owned exactly the same car that he was in, Porsche Carrera GT and I can tell you first hand I know how horrible the GT's handling is, and thank god, I just got rid of it recently and bought a GTR R-35 instead, and IMHO I have no doubts, the horrible GT handling is what contributed to the crash (along with the speed)

I don't know, it could be alcohol or drug related. It's a sad tragic indeed, but these Hollywood celebrity types can get off guard in the wrong crowd sometimes.

From what I read about the Porsche Carrera GT specs it says:

the Carrera's designers chose a mid-engine design, placing the engine behind the cockpit to achieve a weight distribution that makes the car extremely aerodynamic. Its location gives the car a low center of gravity, which enables the Carrera to handle even the steepest curves with the utmost agility.

From your experience is this true, just curious?

It is a horrible car in many ways, the clutch is too sensitive, i had electrical problems and due to the mid engine design at public road at high speed any potholes would be a nightmare and will make the car spin out of control

Re: World News Thread & Breaking News!!

Since Paul Walker passed away, I wonder what they are going to do about Fast and Furious 7.

I think killing off Walker's character Brian O'Conner might be better for the story line, by making it so that Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) killed both Han and Brian. But I think it would be very disrespectful.

Filming for FF7 has only began 2 months ago so there is no way they could of finished to pull a Dark Knight scenario. Not to mention that Universal studios has a lot of money in this so there is no way they will cancel the production.
