I wonder if this uses navstar GPS or Beidou :)

Anyone know if it can be launched from F16s or only IDF?

What news on the HF2 LACM?

I haven't found any news on the HF-IIE being canceled, but Xinhui and Stuart Slade both think it has been, and they're pretty well connected professionals.

Wow Taiwan's defenses are really just falling apart. Soon Taiwan will have pretty much no way of defending itself.

So what did they have to say about the KMT legislator's statement a few months ago that parts had been ordered for its mass production? Was he lying, or did they order the parts and then cancel it?

I'll wait for an official statement. I remember people predicting that neither Bush nor Obama would be making arms sales of the sort that they did.

I believe they were referring to the 1,500km version. The one the KMT legislator was talking about is something like 500 to 600km.

Oh that's been discussed in the defence media for some time, as I recall. The 1000km+ version was shelved because they couldn't get the right turbofan technology from the US or something.

I think the version being worked on originally had a 600km range, which was increased up to 800km thanks to refinements in the fuel/fuel system.

Well, something is advancing at least!

- Boeing Co., Mesa, Ariz., was awarded on Oct. 29 a $141,701,518 firm-fixed-price contract for the advanced procurement for the manufacture of 31 AH-64D model aircraft and two fixed-site Longbow crew trainers matching the Taiwan AH-640 aircraft configuration.

Work is to be performed in Mesa, Ariz., with an estimated completion date of July 30, 2015. One bid solicited with one bid received.

I doubt that Beijing really cares about the HF-IIE. A bunch of J-10s or even J-8II, J-7s with modern radar and small radar guided AAMs in the 30 to 40km range can quickly take them down as they zoom across the Taiwan Straits.
