No worries, Asif. Based on this post I have gone back and updated it accordingly.
Off topic a little, the attached photo is an American unmanned underwater vehicle caught by north korea apparently in harbor defense cira 2000s. Don't quote me on the story, thats what the north korean guide said when I was in NK.

I didn't mention SSN and SSBN which Russia (still) more advanced than China, but I don't think it would be too long before China surpasses Russia ... I believe starting 095 and 096, China SSN and SSBN will be at par if not slightly better than the Russians

I seriously doubt it. China still lags behind Russia on nuclear reactor tech for starter. Russia also has constructed over few hundreds submarines and with at least dozens of generations - that type of experience and lineage is enormous over China.
Most of the defence analysts believe China is at least a full few generations behind Russia: (Akula I was over 30 years old! 1984 when it was first launched...)
It could be a long while before China catches up with Russia.

That graph came out years ago, long before Type 95 came out. How can one place any faith in its credibility?
Vincent, the Type 95 SSN is not "out." There is no evidence of one of them having but to see...even in trials.
The Type 09 subs have been launched and are in service. Many consider them to be approaching the Victor III and initial LA Class boats...which are indeed 30 years old and about three generations behind the current technology.
When the Type 95 comes out, we will have to gauge it then...but it hasn't yet.
Exactly my point. How can they know what is 095's noise level even before it exists?
I do not know the source of the diagram.
But given what the PLAN has accomplished in the last few years, given intelligence they may have regarding current capabilities, and given the current state of the art for Russia and the West, they can make some pretty good presumptions.
They have the date for the Type 095 in parens which I imagine implies that at the time of the original publication they were estimating.
