Like I said in my previous post, to build more SSBN while at the same time improving the noise level.
I don't think it would be wise to concentrate Chinese resource trying to match noise level of USN SSBN and I don't think the Chinese doing it anyway. The Chinese is maximising the technologies they got (by building more SSBN) while at the same time improving it. You can see the Chinese has so many design iterations for their SSN and SSBN.

btw, the Chinese SSN and SSBN technologies is already very advanced and effective, but still far away from USN SSN/SSBN technology level, particularly in noise level

Did I say to park SSBN at Sanya most of the time ? honestly I wouldn't do that .. and I don't think I said that. What I said just to maximise what you got as at the moment Chinese noise level is too far away compared to USN
Well, that's what's really happening. Everything you propose costs a lot more money. Would be better for them to get more advanced ships. Which all evidence points them as doing.

The idea of autonomous underwater vehicle with long duration got me thinking whether on could simply attach a launching device for nuke to one and set it creeping up against another nation's shore targets.

Maybe even a poor man's delivery vehicle?

You don't want to put such civilization destroying assets out of your hand. And underwater communication isn't easy.

Far too risky and too much potential for inadvertent nuclear war.

Any nation who discovered such a SSBN device right off their coast would correctly assume that such a device is meant as a 1st strike weapon, either to decapitate, or in numbers to decimate, and could easily immediately threaten nuclear war unless they were removed.

In addition, the likelihood of inadvertent activation of such an autonomous device is simply too great. You want humans in the chain observing very strict launch sequence protocols.

Not likely to ever happen.

Have you not seen Terminator? :) ... It's a very bad idea to let AIs no matter how smart or advanced to have launch controls especially civilization ending weapon systems!

You can first strike with anything, SSBNs are primarily about giving you a survivable second strike capability so anyone who makes a 1st strike against you can expect to get glassed himself in return, thus deterring him from launching in the first place.
Precisely.

SSBNs are a deterrent to any first strike and are predominantly a second strike weapon that cannot be found, which enables that deterrence.
