Most if not almost all of the increased cost will be from the missiles themselves, which I have no idea how much they cost. RAM costs about $1,000,000 per missile, so I would think that the HHQ-10 should be somewhere in that neighborhood. As for the weight difference, it's anyone's guess.

I'd be very surprised if the cost of HHQ-10 missile close to $1M ... I thought would be roughly $100 to $200K

Guns remains interesting with rounds more cheapers in big qty
FYI, I got a 1/350 scale 139 Ningbo and am converting it per the conversion going on now for the 136.

I will have sixteen VLS for and aft, with eight more VLS at the 2nd tire fore.. Will also put on the two 1130 CIWS and the forward 24 cell HHQ10 CIWS system.

SO, there will be 32 cells for AAW, eight canister launched ASMs and eight VLS launched ASMs,plus the two CIWS guns and the HHQ10.

Also will fit it with the appropriate sensors.

I expect all four of the Sovs are going to get this treatment.

They will be more heavily armed and defended than the Type 054A/B frigates, but not as heavily armed as the Type 052Ds.

Still, this upgrade will add another 10-15 years of relevance to them.

I will have a thread on that build here on SD soon.

Looking at the last image posted of the updates to the SOV........shows that the main gun has been removed. Now looking at CGI images of the expected upgrades, and from the model makers expectation of the upgraded SOV, as per "Jeff.H's" model shows the original gun in place. My question if the Chinese intend to keep the main gun, why remove it while rest of ship is being upgraded?..........or do the Chinese naval planners have in mind fitting a newer Chinese main gun, as fitted to the 052D class?
