Exams are over and I have some time to translate some of pop3's updates from late-May/early-June. Basically, all our excitement regarding a variety of projects were premature. The projects 002, 075, and 054B are not progressing as fast as we thought. I'll clarify on those individually in their respective threads.

Though I would love to see the 075 I think the only of these three projects that deserve a high priority is the 054B, but it needs to be cutting edge tech otherwise it wouldn't be worth it. The PLAN will have their hands full soon enough vetting the 055 and 001A, perhaps building more of them as well as 052D and 056A.

Based on what we're hearing about the 054B it sounds like not so much cutting edge, especially if the "HQ-16C" is going to be used on that ship as is rumored. What would have been far more exciting to hear is a "naval DK-10A", which would imply quad-packing and large MRSAM ordinance loads/ship, which would imply universal VLS as well as a high-target capacity MFR to deal with saturation attacks. 32 universal VL cells would enable very high volume carriage of quad-packed MRSAMs (e.g. 64 MRSAMs along with 8 ASW missiles and 8 ASCMs). A 054B would also be the one PLAN naval design in which a quad-packable SAM makes the most sense. OTOH HQ-16C implies usage of the same previous HQ-16-style VLS, a lower total SAM count, and less need and therefore less probability of seeing a high end MFR, and thus a lower overall 054B capability.
