Well, as for Vikrant, it is too early to precisely tell how many there would inside hangar, but as for ones on the deck, there seems to be room for 12-13 mig29.

Hangar capacity.... hm. Juding by the relatively small dimensions of the ship itself, (20 meters shorter than vikramaditya, several meters narrower waterline beam) the hangar space itself will hardly be any larger than on vikramaditya. Important change, of course, is elevator placement, which will free up hangar space so actual useful hangar space might be on par with vikramaditya. I guess in theory it could go up to 20 mig29 but a more realistic figure would be 15-17 or so. In any case, 30 mig29k would be absolute limit, (while 24 for liaoning is a couple less than its absolute limit) I'd say they're, in reality, going for the same aircraft complement as on vikramaditya, 24 planes and 6 helicopters.

24 J-15 Hangar Storage Arrangement

I really do not understand these diagrams and even more why so many stil trust them: Come on !! A fully crowded hangar with nearly no space to move, to handle, to work or do anything ... it's simply plain stupid !

Deino

Yes completely stupid, pathetic... ! if Mr Popeye look it sure he laugh :D

For aicrafts number on the deck and Inside hangar very simple half in the hangar, i am French... Charles Gaulle total max 40, 20 in hangar usual ratio for all CV/CVN.

Don' t forget also Vikramaditya is not initialy a true CV build as a Heavy Cruiser by Soviet with for main weapons missiles, guns... as Kuznetsov.

100% Correct.

the Hangar deck is not only for storage of aircraft but as we all should know is a place to perform maintenance on aircraft.....check this out;

I think the image threw you guys off because it was used to show the size of the hanger using the J15 as yardstick but if you look at it carefully it's entirely possible if not accurate.
The sardine can you see shows the maximum number that can be carried not operational loadout. This is call maximum density in Navy parlance.

Also the J15 is a big bird. I would say at any given time only a few are below deck being worked on.
Like most carriers, many the embarked birds are on the flight deck itself. On USN CVN's there are a few dozen aircraft on the flight deck at any given time. It would be impossible to put 75-80 aircraft in the hanger (unless maximum density) for transport etc. Not anywhere close. 001A and all carriers ever made would be no different

J15 is about 72 ft. the hanger is probably about 85 - 90 ft based on the visuals. The CAD isometric diagrams give an opitical ilusion and makes it smaller than it looks. The thick walls on the side doesn't help either.

Obviously, a non retarded Captain will leave adequate space for maintenance and repairs in the hangar. ... ... Just curious ... ...

If there is an incoming forecast of Hurricane and Stormy High Waves situation,
how do you protect your Aircraft from being continuously splash by salty sea water ?

Do you dress your aircrafts with a Plastic Raincoats on the flight deck ? ... or ... ...

Does one stay passive and leave one's aircrafts on the exposed flight deck, knowing full well --- one can protect one's aircraft in the hangar by squeezing all the available space ??

There exists several "hangar policys" on the world. US-Navy policy is to be able to put 40% of the airwing into the hangar. Royal Navy policy is to put 100% into the hangar.
