Cockpit looks Su-34/F-111 sized at best.

Indeed and even if often connected to that mysterious black model we know since some time, this one is a much smaller design?

And even more it would be interesting to know what's the current status of this project? from 2013 to 2018 a lot can happen ... either it was abandoned or ...???

Not 1:1 scale mock up?

Can anyone help me out a bit a correct my summary? I'm a bit lost right now...

So in essence we have:

1. the new stealthy strategic bomber H-XX or H-20, under development from XAC - a subsonic flying wing design most likely
2. a smaller regional bomber once called JH-XX but later H-18 - a supersonic but larger design
3. this newly unveiled one, now called JH-XX but also H-17 - a supersonic but smaller design

Any corrections and help appreciated.

IMO, I'm not sure if number 2 (H-18) and number 3 (H-17) may or may not be the same aircraft, but at the moment I'm tending towards "may".

I suspect that the recent pictures of the nose/cockpit mock up might not be 1:1 scale.

That's essentially a SU 34 with blended front airfoils instead of canards which doesn't really make sense for a LR strike bomber.. Also it's not possible to carve out an internal bomb bay on the flanker frame unless the intention is still to hang ordnance externally only.

Assuming the black model has two men cockpit, therefor the size of the windshield is in similar size as Su-34, you can see that the JH-XX is much lager in overall size.
So even if the cockpit mockup looks the same size as Su-34 or F-111, it still could be the JH-XX's cockpit.

P.S. JH-XX model is certainly larger than Su-34 or F-111, but it is not that much larger that you may expect. After all, it is a JH.

Rumor time:

According to 草根设计师, who is rumored by another netizen to have a part of the design team for the original JH-XX, the 2013 design was presented to a top manager and was instantly rejected. However, some time later, the design was approved but 草根设计师 no longer knows what the status of that project is.

Another update from Huitong:
A new medium size/medium range supersonic stealth fighter bomber concept (JH-X? H-X? J-X?) has been studied at the 601 Institute since 2000s. It appears to feature a twin seat cockpit and twin engines. A mock-up (head section?) was constructed at SAC during 2013. The project was rumored to have subsequently been transferred to 603/XAC to be further developed into a medium stealth bomber. The current status of this project is unknown.

The confusing part is that the project was transferred to XAC to be turned into a medium bomber. Why would XAC take over when SAC did all of the research work? Additionally, what does it mean when the JH-XX is to be "developed" into a medium bomber? Like is it going to be enlarged or completely redesigned?
