sounds like there's time for the Pentagon to take the junk out the port (after decades of 'transforming the future battlefield')

If LCS isn't the worst military programs ever it has to rank in the top10
Actually...no, it isn't.

We will end up with 24-28 LCS and 20+ FFGX.

But they will get the LCS inot a position to be functional for SAGs, escorts duties, ASW, and CMC.

It is going to taake time...and people like Trump and hopefully the people he is putting into the Navy will get the LCS uparmed and upgraded.

That has to happen...and based on the input I am getting from people I know inside...it will happen.

If they choose the Lockheed variant of the FFGX they will do fine. The UK (Tyep 26) and the Italian (FREMM) entries as welll...or the BIW/Spanish F-100 derivitive too.

Personally, I believe the Lockheed entry probably has the best chance because it is wholly US and will allow the shipyards doing the Lockheed LCS to switch over with the least amount of triuble for a US firm.

Anyhow, those ships are going to be built.

This is what the LCS should have been from the get go.

The actual LCS upgrade will have the quad launchers, the Hellfire missiles, the Sea RAM, and upgrades to sensors and a few more places with more armor.

BIG WINNERS: The compromise bill is a victory for both the Navy littoral combat ship and F-35 joint strike fighter programs. In both cases, House and Senate negotiations went for the high end of proposed purchases. The bill pays for three littoral combat ships despite the Navy’s request for just a single ship and Navy Secretary Richard V. Spencer’s insistence that no more were needed. The three-ship buy is not unexpected because Shelby’s state of Alabama is home to the Austal USA shipyard that builds the Independence-variant LCS.
