just to appreciate the LCS Program pace:
    Oct 15, 2014
(almost four years ago) and inside that article (dated 4/11/14 which is more than four years ago):
"The first step in this re-arming of sorts will be adding the AGM-114L Longbow Hellfire missile."

... fast forward to today ...

You know what Jura. I appreciate most of your post. I don't read them all. Just enough to be dangerous. Personally I do not like any military information gathered from twitter, facebook, instagram..etc..etc....I just don't do social media. I don't even text anyone. Never.

Thanks for posting so much information daily!

This is USS Independence in 2014 after the bridge wings were added. Note the overhanging protrusions by the bridge.

This very long PDF file explains about different modifications to the LCS ships. Very long read...I didn't read it.

my pleasure LOL of course ignored most of the time, but occasionally taking fire from Western fanbois; China fanbois; tech enthusiasts; know-it-all types ... this is how it should be in a Military forum, I guess, plenty of fun!

well LCSs are the future of the USN

here comes a wonderful part of
Senators Want More Details on 2-Carrier Buy, LCS Requirement Before Supporting Additional Shipbuilding Funds https://news.usni.org/2018/05/25/33886
    :

"The staffer told USNI News after the background briefing that the LRIP quantity and the acquisition plan have been changed repeatedly and that changing the LRIP quantity to allow for more LCSs in 2019 wouldn’t be a burden on the Navy and DoD. The certification of national security and industrial base requirement, though, are important to the committee. If the Pentagon comes back and says industry requires just one LCS to be bought in 2019, SASC would support buying one – which is what the Navy requested for 2019. If the Pentagon certifies that industrial base needs dictate buying two or even three, like HASC wanted, then the senators would support that. If the Pentagon said there was no industrial base need at all, then the committee would support zeroing out the program ahead of the frigate transition, the staffer said."

Well Jura for all of our sake let's hope the answer comes back at zeroing out LCS in 2019 the navy needs a real frigate for a change I personally have my doubts that will happen and we are stuck with at least one more LCS most likely we end up with the more useless targets for enemy frigates and destroyers

FYI the navy was supposed to down select LCS to one version under the old small surface combatant program I kinda wonder if that is still the case if so then we could very well be seeing the end of LCS in its current tootless form
