Imho it's too late to turn back now so they are trying to make them as useful as possible just figure out a way to throw some ESSM and NSM on the things and be happy should be bout all a frigate needs to be and have maybe add Asroc or something like it in future

I don't think the first about 25 ? receive a VLS so expensive with budget " limited " and need to be inserted in the hull but i hope anti-ships missiles in canisters for get a more decent armament Asroc can be interesting but can carry 2 MH-60R then yet can have good ASW capability.

For the last normaly FFG both and maybe AEGIS the small variant as one used by Norwegian Nansen FFG a hull sonar also usefull with a towed and helo it is the best combination, in fact a true successor for Perry class with Mk-13 ofc.

your article from
Really LOL "is like the cat with nine lives" but not a big Cat right now, allow me :)
told you
"Future possibilities, particularly for the new frigate variant, include adding air and missile defenses based on the Standard Missile 2 and 3 series and a phased array radar, creating a mini-arsenal ship loaded with Harpoons or other over-the-horizon missiles and even deploying directed-energy weapons."

emoticon of sarcasm

They also don't need phased array radar just need the capabilities to communicate back and fourth with ships that have it if you start putting that kind of stuff on them the cost would be such that even our whacky political leaders may not approve

what an amount of spin I've read about that "marvel"!

I've been aware of the following options:

LOL Brumby "The Navy will rotate three different unmanned vehicles into its Littoral Combat Ship mine countermeasures mission package to fill a primary minehunting role, rather than competing the three vehicles as the service previously announced." etc. according to Stackley: RMMV, CUSV, Knifefish Will All Play a Role in LCS Minehunting; Not a Competition

And i see it work with 3 MS systems or it is one other ?
Also I have read some Burke equiped with a MS system true o_O
I don't think this system on a helo are also efficient as a Minesweeper mainly used alone.

Archerfish mine neutraliser and the launch platform, an MH-60S helicopter deployed from the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ships.

This mine hunting thingy is getting too confusing for me. I am having a hard time understanding how all these different programs will address the capability requirements.

You see I've got figured out two different designs for ships
2 different engine manufacturers two different aircraft manned one unnamed two different anti aircraft missiles Sea Ram, Ram, 3 diferent minesweeping optionally, 2different anti ship missiles plus hellfire's why it's the navy wanted two of everything so it could keep everbody happy in our P.C. times remember our admin. Promised to fundamentally change America well here is their achievements in a nut shell

I may comment tomorrow ...
... but I won't comment, just pull two sentences (p. 34 in the middle; 38 out of 58 in PDF):
"The Navy continues to procure LCS seaframes, even though the sub-systems necessary to meet threshold mission package requirements have not yet been fully developed and integrated with both seaframe designs. The Navy will not achieve the capability to meet threshold requirements for all three of the mission packages until 2019, by which time it plans to take delivery of 22 ships."
