May be I have info that is not available to you. I'm serious and I don't need to be sarcastic. The T-50 is a great aircraft and the program is going smoothly, more than we can say about some of the F-35 versions.

Pepe

Hmmm ... no offence please but:

1. regarding the structural issues (no. 51 will most likely never fly again) ... no. 52 + 53 restricted and no. 54 is delayed I won't say that this "program is going smoothly" ! (see Air International report by Piotr Butowsky last issue I think)
2. with such discussions we are again getting to distant to the main topic and closing too much again these "I don't like them" comparative treads like mine is better than yours !

3. come on CAC ... let no. 2002 finally take-off !!!!

Thanks for that source Deino, I will check it out, you all make good points, a fifth gen fighter is a totally new animal, you have to pay for it, the initial "complaint about the Raptor, it costs to much". F-35 deemed to be good enough, because of new weapon systems and integration, and stealthy enough, is still going to be very expensive, and I bet 2 to 1, will make the Raptor look like a bargain. Deino is right guys, we need to keep the focus on the J-20, we will all have a little different perspective, and I was initially mystified by how much they were flying J-20, now that the second prototype has come along, there will be twice as much tweaking going on. I would guess the initial flight testing has gone very well, and now they are in the next phase as they expand the flight envelope, they are also going to be flying a "new airplane" and that requires some extra vigilance, but like Deino, I am anxious to see 2002 fly!

I am having a little trouble pinning the T-50 prob, is it the rear center fuse and the verts that have cracks Deino? I really do want to keep up on all of them, but info on all these birds is illusive to say the least. If its off topic feel free to pm me. Thanks Bax

You misunderstood me. I wasn't referring to the T-50 per se. I was referring to what you said the Indians were doing. Let's see, they don't know when they will be able to start the production of their version of the T-50 (FGFA), and that's when they actually will start to slowly learn the millions of things about the technology. And yet, you were saying that they already had begun to offer to others what they have yet to start to understand, what they have yet to own first, and what actually is not quite there... This is why I thought you were mocking the Indians...

P.S. Sorry, Deino, I figuerd I owed Pepe an explanation.

Off topic! Sorry but it is newsworthy, Lt. Col Paul "Max" Moqua, commander of the 525 FS at JBR/Elemendorf AFB, Alaska took delivery of the last Raptor off the line for the Air Force, 05/02/12 and flew it home yesterday in an 8 hr non-stop hop. Some of you may remember that Max was the 1st Raptor demo pilot, and is a regular on the Military channel, and hosted Air Combat, which did actual side by side match ups on different aircraft in combat. A notable F-86-Mig 15 was very fair to both aircraft and compared them as to actual strengths and weaknesses. Max was very complimentary to the Mig 15. Anyway as squadron commander, 4195 is his personal aircraft and will be so marked. Now that gentlemen is freedom, and Max is a great guy and used to respond on Air Show Buzz, and told us a little about the Raptor and why he flew the show he did, rather than the crazy cool Russian nutzo show. He related that he flew a tactical display in the Raptor, and that post stall and beyond, as awsome as it looks, were very poor tactical manuevers! Anyway as sad as the last Raptor sounds, I know I will sleep better tonight knowing Max is flying top cover on the top of the world in 4195, and it is nice to know she is in the hands of someone who will love her for what she is! Sorry Guys, Did they fly 2002 yet?

Brat,I read yesterday from printed news quoting American source that some F-22 pilots refuse to fly the aircraft (may the proven problematic ones, I don't recall the details).

I saw it last night on 60 Minutes. There's something wrong with the air filtration system making it dangerous for the pilots. That was the reason why F-22s were grounded recently.

Your right as usual player, and USAF pilots are given a great deal more leaway to make those kind of choices, thats why they call it pilot in command or aircraft commander. In further news the commander of ACC, Gen Mike Hostage has announced he himself will personally begin flying the Raptor untill the O2 issues are fully resolved, now thats leadership, although I know General Hostage is smilin like a Cheshire cat, having finally figured out a good excuse, for some stick time in the Raptor. He also called the Raptor the best tactical combat aircraft in the world, and states for the record that he wishes we had ten times as many as we do, hopefully shutting up those who state the Air Force didn't want the Raptor and chose the F-35. Thats nonsense. So come on PLAAF, let the tall man an Li Quang tell us about their baby, let the fighter pilots be fighter pilots, and let freedom ring. Honestly guys, flying a fighter aircraft is very dangerous on a good day, all these birds will bite ya, if ya turn your back, and they all have issues, just like supermodels, just ask brother Nick over in France, but they're worth it. Brat out, I'm gonna be in trouble, I gotta get in bed for the bosset catches me up this late. Night guys.

Yes, they have been very open about that assasin, head of ACC, Gen Mike Hostage, is gonna strap on the Raptor himself until this issue is resolved. For the record 60 minutes is written and produced by freedom hating liberals, they don't like guns, they don't like airplanes, and they sure don't like men like you and I, and they aint your friends and if you get in trouble, they aint gonna ride in in a hail of gunfire and save your sorry butt, or mine. But the USAF will, they recently jumped in some bad weather to save some Chinese fishermen who were sick off the coast of Cali, got em off the boat and to a hospital. Thats friendship bro, don't forget who your real friends are!

Well they are the ones that started "gotcha" journalism but seems like a little late since ABC news beat them to it.

On a side note watching these reports I have no idea how some say the J-20 is a rip-off of the F-22. The only similarity is the caret-shaped intakes. The Raptor forward section looks more like a bird's head while the J-20 looks like a spearhead. The rest is way more dissimilar.
