CDF is stating that that's a naval J-10B. Interesting.

I think it is only because the light effects, but I am not sure it's naval color or not,see the picture below:

I didn't see that until now, interesting indeed. The colors certainly match.

also, this place located at China flight test reserch institute ( 630 institute ) in Xian, J-10B and J-11Bs, they are together preparing for flight test, not strange.

I don't know, still looks like a J-10A to me. Unless we get a non-blocked view of the nose or the intake, it's hard to tell from this far out.

here is a more upclose picture of the plane I guess
And here is a picture of J-10B's tail from huitong's website

At least to me, that tail top looks different. I don't see that ECM housing at all.

Just because it's part of the PLAN doesn't necessarily mean they're for carriers. China has no operational carrier, yet the PLAN has had fighters for years.

Hmmm ... just back from a French-visit and IMO it looks not like a "B" nor a naval-bird.

At least I would say, it includes the taller tailfin + the ECM, but even if quite blurred, the intake and the tail-fins seem to be the original ones.

Could simply be an updated "A-version" as a test-bed.
