There isn’t anything magical about cruise missiles. They are hard to detect due to small RCS and low altitude.

But if detected, they are no harder to hit than the most basic target drones. No jammers or countermeasures or evasive manoeuvres, they just fly in a nice straight line to their target. You can shoot them down easily with AAA if detected and within range.

With Russian radars up and unmolested, it’s little wonder the Syrians are having such an unusually high inception rate.

In a more straight forwards fight, the AD radars would be the first to be hit, so while the wave of cruise missiles going for the radars might suffer high intercept rates, once those radars are down, the rest of the attack wave will suffer very few intercepts, thereby achieving a low overal intercept rate.

MoD RF now considers to be free from obligations not to provide Syria and some other countries with the SA-300 AD system.

2plawolf: there was also no magic of the same sa-3 against f-117 twenty yeras ago.

MoD RF today:

Целями удара были, в том числе, и авиационные базы сирийских ВВС. Данные объективного контроля говорят о следующем:



- по аэродрому Дювали в ударе были задействованы четыре ракеты — все сбиты;



- по аэродрому Думеир — 12 ракет, все сбиты;



- по аэродрому Блэи — 18 ракет, все сбиты;



- по аэродрому Шайрат — 12 ракет, все сбиты.



Аэродромы не пострадали.



Из девяти ракет, запущенных по неиспользуемому аэродрому Меззе, пять сбито.



Из 16 ракет по аэродрому Хомс уничтожено 13. Серьезных разрушений не наблюдается.



30 ракет были задействованы в ударе по объектам в районе населенных пунктов Барз и Джарамани. Из них семь ракет сбито. Эти объекты, якобы имевшие отношение к так называемой «военной химической программе» Дамаска, частично разрушены. При этом они давно не используются, людей и оборудования на них не было.
