and while this situation seems to hold (also in other Damascus suburbs), I've realized I definitely should have added one more direction: against "Tall Sayyad salient"; the map from last week:

the view when I tried to "zoom in" there:

The territory under Government control probably ends north to Morek, and includes "56" road visible in the bottom-left corner, and

north to it. About two weeks ago I read the Regular Army in the beginning of its October Offensive had tried to cut out this Salient by attacking from the directions of Morek and Kernaz at the same time, but was repelled after counter-attacks were mounted against the flanks of said attacks.

I wonder what's the situation there now, considering what's the most recent map is showing in that area:

This map also seems to be answering

and the answer would be the Regular Army succeeded in securing this important road (if one believed that map, of course)

So, I'll try to occasionally follow five direction:
  1. Aleppo (including access routes: "M5" and through Khanasir);
  2. Talbiseh pocket;
  3. Salma;
  4. suburbs of Damascus;
  5. Tall Sayyad salient (above)
I said "occasionally", because I've gotten the book, let me see, "ISIS: Inside The Army Of Terror" by Weiss and Hassan and I consider to read it in coming days.

Now to Moderators:
  • while trying to create this post, I noticed several recent and pathetic posts here apparently referring to Hitlerjugend (they popped up with There are more posts to display. View them? message) ... I'm not going to go back to see them, just please have a look if they're ... necessary
  • I've also noticed the Kremlin called recent US and British bomb-in-A321-flight statements to be speculations, and while I'm certainly not a speaking trumpet of the Kremlin :) I think it would be better to have a separate Thread, for various types of A321 announcements (now numerous media cry this one hour, something else next hour, to change it for a different story soon etc.)
  • I'll understand if you ignore my previous two points LOL
According to your EdMaps map of Aleppo, it does indeed look as though the Syrian Government have taken Shakyeh Ahmed and linked through to the AIrbase.
Could be your round!

All the more reasons to hit them now before they hit us again does anyone realize that we already have aprox. 4500 soldiers in Iraq that is brigade strength if I remember right trouble is their very strict rules of engagement and not all of them are combat troops

Does anyone know the combat strength of the peshmerga

Chechen leader Kadyrov confirmed that his special envoy already works with different militant groups in Syria in order to find partners for a compromise.
Kadyrov built second biggest mosque in Europe and is a well known and recognized figure in Persian Gulf. He practices regular hadj himself and set up direct flights to Mecca for the Chechens for that purpose.
Mr. Kadyrov is regularly seen next to Pr. Putin when leaders from Muslim countries visit Moscow.

No conspiracy theories.

What one "understands," does not equate to proof or any credible documentation.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

not sure what you mean, SampanViking ... once the Regular Army gets to Kuweiris Airbase, Mr. Asad will let us know :) (earlier this week I read there was the last line of ISIL defences still holding, between Shaykh Ahmed and the perimeter of the base; at first I wanted to say "last ditch" but I imagine it as machine-gun nests surrounded by mine-fields (and wonder how much off I'm LOL)
anyway, more important development is probably going on elsewhere (I'll post in a second)

... not anymore, as numerous sources are telling me the Rebels took over Morek most recently, and would have just 28 km to go to

I'll post details if I find any, but ask a big question now:
Does the Regular Army have enough Strategic Reserves to push (or "push") at so many directions at once?? I mean it looks like they'll have to start plucking holes soon

Iranian Planes Bring Iraqi Volunteer Battalion to Fight ISIL in Syria

The first photographic evidence of an Iranian Air Force plane that brought Iraqi Shiite volunteer fighters in Syria to fight against ISIL terrorists has appeared on the Internet.

A picture posted on the Instagram account of the Iranian group Holy Defense shows an Iraqi soldier standing in front of an Iranian C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft supposedly in Syria.

"This is probably the first picture of an Iranian Hercules made in Syria and the first documented evidence of the Iranian Air Force being Syria. Flights are have been made from Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran and the city of Tabriz [in the northwest of Iran] since the beginning of the Syrian conflict," a source from Holy Defense told Sputnik.

Iranian planes also bring drones that are used for reconnaissance flights above ISIL military bases, the source told Sputnik.

Comments underneath the picture reveal that some of the Iraqi fighters came to Syria after the beginning of Russian anti-ISIL airstrikes in Syria.

Apart from Iraqi volunteer fighters, the Iranian planes brought with them arms and military equipment, Holy Defense said.

That could be a major problem for all armys of any kind Jura you can answer this better than most of us over here what we are told is a majority of Syrian refugees are men of military age

For a little bit of good news the Iraqi armed forces are making slow but steady progress in their efforts to retake Ramadi so says a US General attached to them from the 82nd airborne division also reported that the Iraqi armed forces are asking for more training per defense news early Bird brief that's the first encouraging news I've heard form Iraq in months hope they succeed in their mission this would be a crushing defeat for Isis but not a total one
