Indian Air Force retires its last MiG-27ML squadron

The Indian Air Force (IAF) retired its last squadron of upgraded MiG-27ML 'Flogger' tactical ground-attack aircraft on 27 December: a move that further reduces the service's overall combat strength.

Officials said that the IAF has "number-plated" the No. 29 'Scorpions' Squadron based in Jodhpur, western India, until it is re-operationalised with new aircraft and manpower at a later stage. The move comes after the IAF retired its other MiG-27ML squadron in December 2018.

Licence-built by India's state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), some 165 single-engine, 'swing-wing' MiG-27s entered IAF service from 1985.

IAF officers who operated the MiG-27s told Jane's that the agile fighter - a derivative of the Soviet-era MiG-23BN fighter - could 'swing' its wings from 16 to 72°, depending on the mission.

...
Just noticed we're getting a bit off topic now. Let's just agree India is obviously more capable militarily and technologically than China. China will need several more years of advancements in fighter design and radar technology to match India today. If we go further off topic with this conversation, Deino will consider it all wasteful posts and delete them or ban us.

Indeed, especially since You are again posting your opinion as fact; something i don't like ...

Anyway a highly interesting report written by Angad Singh on the Indian carrier issues: :)

Naval aviation needs prioritisation, not priority

And where would these opinions as facts be? Perhaps you missed the sarcasm and the obvious troll berserck. Thankfully most of his bullshit India is best and Chinese are horrible posts were deleted.

Did the french actually dupe india with the offset program for Rafales ? I heard that Indian engine Kaveri would get technology assistance from France ( how exactly this is going to be worked out is a mystery to me.)
Dassault makes Rafale, not the M88. Snecma works on M88.
Also, India asked for Meteor. That is made by MBDA consortium.

Since the 36 Rafale is a gov to gov deal...has France managed to get Dassault, Snecma and MBDA in line for the offsets and transfers?
Did India get duped? There is perfect silence on the Indian M88 class engine program. Almost eerie.
