it is India's first missile range instrumentation ship

however ships of this type are also used for snooping
1.underwater (hydrographic studies , mapping etc etc)
2.above water (SIGNIT , tracking airborne objects within atmosphere and in space etc etc)

and as usual most of its capabilities and roles are classified (since this project is handled by PMO).

More than it, its actually a missile tracking ship,

Only United States, Russian Federation, People's Republic of China and France operate such ships before India.

Better Radars will be made for future combat planes.

Left: LCA Right: AMCA design seems to be heavily drawn but larger fuselage due to twin engine, so medium category.

This bird should be made in partnership with the private sector, The Mahindras, TATAs, L&Ts, Godrej, Dynamic Tech, etc, etc. should be roped in. Even to the extend someone like the TATAs should be the lead integrator.

HAL has too much on it's plate, let it work on FGFA, Su 30s, etc. AMCA should be given to the private sector consortium.

India will have a private sector plant producing a single engine fighter and a plant for C295s, leverage this for this program.

ADA is looking at completely reworking the old method of producing their designs.
