I have that book, will try to locate on which hard drive it rests From the top of my head, Varyag was intended for testing the S1-M cat and Yak-44 AEW both intended for Ulyanovsk CVN and her following sisters never built. S1-M was only 90m long so should fit in Varyag.

I always wonder being a pilot and flying these awacs or aewc aircraft and sitting so close to an object shooting so much Electromagnetic radiation. The risk of cancer must be high for them.
