How I wish China would ban products from Iowa for child labor slavery.

I wish too but for practical reasons. China issuing sanctions because of this would turn attention to what Iowa is doing. Which is important. The western narrative assumes a position of moral high ground, which in turn means turning heads to the fact that US still having some forms of slavery and child labor legal would be detrimental to Western credibility.

"I believe we can, and we must, carve out our own distinct European approach that also leaves space for us to cooperate with other partners, too," Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission — the executive arm of the EU — said during a speech Tuesday. She argued that the relationship with China "is too important for us not to define our own European strategy and principles."

Honestly, it'd probably be more worthwhile to prioritize Europe over Russia. You can't eat your cake and have it, and China would definitely stand to gain more with Europe, especially if they're pitting the EU states against each other like they are now.
Europe demographics and environmental degradation is such that it cannot help much in trade balance or help against US power.
while prioritizing Europe over Russia will expose China to Arab hegemony. slight change in US political system and you will have very different outcome but what will not change is India, Japan, Korea relations with Gulf and they will pursue those interests to get even more favorable outcome with ASEAN and inside it will be the other countries interests.. They gave breathing room to Iran.
