I tried to read through that, I really did, but I could only make it about halfway through his blathering. If anyone's read it and there's a point somewhere in there, please summarize it.

American exceptionalism, which produces trust, will give America an edge in its competition with China.

There is no point in even trying to refute that.

Before, Friedman used to be someone to read as he kind of had his finger on the pulse of the American Chinese relationship.

Lately, the last few years, he kind of lost in the desert or something. He sounds exactly like the Biden people.

Maybe he never recovered from his case of TDS.

The line between self confidence and self delusion is a fine one.

Yes. As many on this forum have noted, China has been playing it out for its true intended audience: developing countries that make up the world's silent majority. Their invisible supporters across the globe build like rising water until the dam breaks. This style of overthrowing the tyrant has roots in Chinese history. It also seems to resemble a revolution of the proletariat.

Some patterns I've noticed:
  • Brokering peace between the Saudis and Iranians, China wins the regard of the Muslim world. Then allowing MBS take the limelight to make peace with the Yemenis, Syrians, thereby letting him shine as a great regional peace maker / statesman.
  • Being a pillar in BRICS, setting up the NDB, then having Dilma Rouseff to head that bank. China wins the regard of Latin America.
  • Building and funding the African Union HQs, African Development Fund and African Development Bank, then allowing the African Union to run them. China wins the regard of Africa.
This is like text book example of Mao's "surround the cities from the country side" strategy.

China-Israel relations have ranged from fair to good (Lavi, A50I, etc) in the last few decades. It's never been bad. I think China will at least ensure Israel isn't screwed over in China's Middle East diplomacy.
actually i think China will sacrifice israel because it is the common-denominator in the muslim world. you want the muslim to stop fighting each other? direct them to their common enemy the israelis.

There are actual young 2nd or 3rd gen Chinese I know in Germany who wish to migrate back to China, due to better job prospects, better future in general but their parents are often reluctant and swallowed the "SeePeePeeSee Bad" by german MSM Tagesschau, etc. but most likely those parents are aware thatt they prob don't get chinese pension since they payed into the german system and never into the chinese one. And not all are financially secure enough to miss out on the german pension (even if it is little)

One major problem is the growing inevitable divide between the diaspora and Mainland Chinese. The diaspora basically is a time capsule from the time they left China and behave as such. It's a different story if they have frequent business or holidays in China but I know many who never went to China even for holiday after going to Germany. The Children nowadys don't even garanteed to speak fluent mandarin because of suboptimal teaching, mainly from the parent but that does not make you fluent in writing most of time.

The children of course are far more reluctant to relocate back when facing active opposition from their elders.

On the other side there are those families that are sooooo cucked and fully embrace western libtard democrazy with all its colours.

Those ones are lost anyways, basically like the group of jews that were pro Hitler.

This is one of many reasons why despite this forum hating on soft power continuously, I continue to stress the importance of soft power.

Take the differences in conditions between Germany and Singapore for instance. Here in Singapore, I learn from young to read and write Chinese. I am probably not as proficient as a mainlander, but I still know Chinese. We have our Chinese language television channel, independently produce Chinese television dramas and variety shows, have our own Chinese language official newspaper. Chinese New year is an officially recognized state holiday.

Most importantly, I can speak Chinese anywhere I want without feeling awkward or being accused of being a SeePeePee spy.

All of this is soft power. Soft power isn't just dancing kpop boys and girls. Soft power is a real societal difference. It provides the basis for diaspora to reconnect back with their original civilizations.

I agree. I believe it's time for China to start tramping all over Western red lines.
The reason why it hasn't done this so far is simple, the American Empire still rules the world. Its not the time yet for an open rebellion.

All this talk about hypocrisy and morals doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is strength, and now the American Empire as a whole is stronger than China which is why it won't take any drastic action against it, yet.

Instead the focus is on the countryside, the developing world. The Global North is the American Empire so no need to bother with them
