I don't know why you read too much into what Chinese FM said in that statement. It has been China's position that it won't sell weapons to both Russia or Ukraine during this conflict. Western MSM has tried to corner China on this issue but with no available. Beside, Russia doesn't need Chinese weapons unless it wants to mobilize million of troops. With dual uses component from China, Russia is capable of sustaining the war with its own defense industry.

In addition, China is also sending its DM to Russia for a meeting for further cooperation. With meeting with Lula underway now and other countries' leaders in the coming weeks and months to draw a roadmap of de-dollarization, I think China would lay low a bit but push for military and economic engagement. BRICS and SCO would see a big push from China to fight back the West. Belt Road would revitalize and weaponize towards same goal.

Just what did she do that earned so much respect both in level of reception and diplomatic gurantee? I wish there are something we dont know that happened. If we took everything at surface level it would be a disaster.

usually in Arab many things are said and pull back or denied to create leverage with West. Egypt will want to present it as leverage not sanction other business that is far important to them. I think CIS countries are now learning from Arabs how to manage sanctions. create some thing and pull back to show that they are not doing normal business. its about demonstrating not to support Russia. Turkey Erdogan is master in it. wannabe German copy cat should be the best. Well for now, there is a clear imbalance. The West sends weapons, and helps Ukraine, but China can't send weapons to Russia.

Isn't it hypocrisy for the West to demand China to not help Russia while the entire Western world helps Ukraine with whatever way they can? Yes it is.

That's not to say that China is powerless. I think a slow boiling of the frog would work the best. Communicate a lot with the Global South and start slowly building a case against the imperialistic and warmongering West, keep doing it and then start testing the waters. At that point its best if you can rope in the Global South with you which are tired by this war.

That's what i see here. China is following a responsible Ukraine policy. If the West ramps up Western aid to Ukraine, China would have a very good excuse to also start helping Russia with the Global South behind it

That's wishful thinking. Qin Gang messed up here. Westerners need to be educated that if you bring business and polite words like Macron, you'll get a reward like a promise not to send weapons to Russia. And if you bring insults and no business, just give them a book on "core socialist values" and tell them that's better than their much celebrated European values.

If Qin Gang gave a concession to Macron, I'd say he messed up because he gave substance for words, but here, there is just no motive to make this mistake. That's why I think there should be some unseen factor. Generally speaking, I'm not happy about this at all. I would have had about 20 students sitting in the first row and the second she said something disrespectful, I would have had them get up on stage and shout her down into a corner at which point the visit would end and she would go straight to the airport. If she had bodyguards, my Chinese bodyguards would stop them from intervening. They wouldn't beat her up or touch her but they would get very loud and disrespectful and shut her up instantaeously. But... I'm not a politician.

I'd take a wait and see approach as politics involve the use of Newspeak. On the surface, this does make China look weak to many especially to nations that are looking to get away from Uncle Scam's jackboots. However, selling fully assembled weapons would negatively affect Russian defense industries; not exactly a Win-Win scenario. And then there's China's interests as well to consider. They want to minimize the impact on their foreign markets share. [Edit: I'd also add this is being reported by AP News which cannot be fully trusted unless confirmed by Chinese media.]

A news from my home country Bulgaria and how EU countries have been forced to buy huge quantities of vaccines against covid-19 for years.

Huge financial resource: Another 2.8 million doses of vaccine against COVID-19 to be scrapped

Bulgaria must buy vaccines against COVID-19 until 2025 in huge quantities, but has raised the issue with the European Commission to terminate the contract, Health Minister Asen Medzhidiev explained to BNT.

"Not only do we have vaccines to scrap, but we've already scrapped huge amounts, we're going to scrap another 2,800,000 doses this year. This is a huge financial resource. I was categorical before the European Commission that Bulgaria is firmly in favor of terminating the contract with Pfizer for the purchase of vaccines," said the Minister of Health.

Medzhidiev said Bulgaria has called on the European Commission to end a contract with BioNTech/Pfizer under which his country is obliged to buy coronavirus vaccines until 2025.

"In my online conversation with the European Commissioner for Health, I was quite critical and categorical that it is not image-worthy, even for the European Union, to be forced to purchase vaccines and, even after delivering them, to have to destroy them," Asen Medjidiev pointed out.

According to him, with the funds we pay for the purchase and destruction of these vaccines, we will build a children's hospital and the rest will be for the children's centers in the villages.

Last year, 2.3 million paid vaccines against coronavirus were discarded in Bulgaria, and this year it is expected to be 2.8 million. These are medicinal products and money in the wind. We will scrap over 5 million COVID-19 vaccines in two years". This was stated by the adviser to the Minister of Health, Arkady Sharkov.

He pointed out that the last contract for the vaccines against COVID-19 was signed in 2021, when the epidemiological situation was much different, and this led to the ordering of large quantities of them. The EU should stop buying vaccines.

He also recalled the lawsuit filed by the New York Times for refusing to provide the communication between the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and a representative of Pfizer. The publication is asking for the documents because of doubts that the EC has contracted larger quantities than necessary.

All the more reason not to believe the official narrative regarding C19. IMO, it's all an elaborate money making scam for Big Pharma with maybe a side of money laundering.

I've seen too many hints from people who might have some inside information to believe there isn't "arm" flowing into Russia, I believe the actual rule is something like "no exporting completed platforms to Russia, components are a-okay" That's probably the way Russians prefer it anyway, I rather doubt they think it's a good look if say, VT-4 starts showing up on the battlefield in number.

Think about it in reverse, I don't think we would be very please if we see entirely Russian platforms appear in the middle of AR either. People were already upset last year when it was rumored that Su-35 was crossing the strait when Pelosi's plane was landing.

Only if Russian platforms were to appear unexpectedly without first consulting with Beijing. Even if SU-35s were deployed during Pelosi's visit, I don't believe the protest were against certain platforms used but rather the fact of a military response was used.

Why is that guy not been given a warning or at least an advice to provide commentary other than his usual emojis consist of and more which don't add any value to the discussion. I don't care if his opinion is against the grain but at least have some intellectual backbone and moral decency to provide and defend in a non-trollish manner actions, and ideologies most of us here find objectionable and suspect.

I'd prefer someone to just sticking to using "Emojis Reactions" than posting one-liners or Emojis with no context.

I don't know what possessed Qin Gang to make that promise. And to U.S. puppet Annalena Baerbock of all people who now gets to boast about securing a concession from the Chinese after chewing them out in their own country ...

Macron-VDL meeting was a major triumph but the Baerbock visit currently looks like an L for China as much as it pains me to say.

Its an L if viewed from the public perspective, but it could easily be a W if something behind the scenes was agreed.
I have to say though, knowing that Baerbock is a Blinken acolyte, I don't see high chances that something behind the scenes was agreed.

In any case, given that we don't have access to that kind of info, and we can only draw conclusions from what is publicly said, we can say that this is an L but with a disclaimer that this based on the public perspective

I agree. The situation is straight up bazzaire and I cannot comprehend this at all. I am going to sit back and see how this plays out.

Its a dumb statement but its just words after all, just a pinky promise. If NATO dares to roll into Ukraine, Xi will personally give the greenlight to flood Russia with Chinese weapons.

Words are words, and actions are actions. That the MFA probably messed up somehow on their words, doesn't mean that their incompetency will alter China's strategic calculus.

Don't forget that the MFA actually doesn't have that much of a high status in the CPC (yes, even with one of their guys in the Politburo). China's national security establishment is fortunately not populated by such simpletons
